“Tommy Gunz” is walking the walk.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Featherweight prospect Tommy McMillen battered Alberto Montes to kick off the UFC Oklahoma City main card this past weekend (Sat., July 18, 2026), scoring a third-round technical knockout inside Paycom Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (watch highlights).
And he made some history in the process.
In just his second UFC fight, McMillen landed a ridiculous 252 significant strikes on 517 attempts, breaking the three-round UFC record previously held by Nate Diaz.
That number also ranks third all-time in UFC history, trailing only Max Holloway’s absurd beatdown of Calvin Kattar (290) and Rob Font’s losing effort against Marlon Vera (271).
The big difference?
Those were both five-round main events.
But because he broke Diaz’s long-standing record, McMillen has declared he is now officially part of the family.
“Montes wasn’t cut like me at all,” McMillen told Full Send MMA. “He was in these interviews all week talking s—t about me, running his mouth that I’m all an act. I’m running my mouth, he’s running his mouth, but then I show up to the face-offs yesterday, and he goes to dap me up, but I slapped his hand out of my face and told him to go f—k himself.
“I’m like, ‘You were running your mouth all week, but now you wanna dap me up — I’m not like that. I’ll fight you. Fight you right now,’” McMillen continued. “They made me sit with a cop at the weigh-ins all day because I was trying to fight him because he was running his mouth about me. I really do this s—t; I’m a real American gangster.
“They said I broke the record of one of the Diaz brothers,” McMillen added. “I’m the third Diaz brother, so it’s only right that that record goes to me. I’m a real American gangster, motherf—kers.”
Declaring yourself the third Diaz brother is a pretty bold move considering Nick Diaz and Nate are two of the most iconic personalities in mixed martial arts (MMA) history.
But, honestly, McMillen did bring a very Diaz-like performance.
He talked trash. He refused to be friendly. He threw an insane amount of volume. He busted up his opponent. And he kept coming forward until Montes could not take it anymore … It was pretty on-brand.
Time will tell if McMillen can make anything close to the impact Nick and Nate made on the sport, but for now, he is absolutely doing his thing.
“Tommy Gunz” is 2-0 in UFC with back-to-back stoppage wins and “Performance of the Night” bonuses in both appearances.
McMillen now wants to return at Noche UFC 4, which goes down in his adopted home state of Arizona this September. And, naturally, he wants to fight a Mexican opponent.
