‘Not just for this season but for many’ – Atletico Madrid president sends clear message to Barcelona over Julian Alvarez
Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has made the club’s position on Julian Alvarez crystal clear, insisting that the Argentine forward remains a key part of their long-term plans despite continued interest from Barcelona.
The striker has emerged as one of Barcelona’s priority targets in recent months, with reports even claiming that the Catalan club submitted a €100 million offer in an attempt to open negotiations.
However, Atletico have repeatedly maintained that they have no intention of selling one of their most important players.

With speculation surrounding Alvarez refusing to disappear, Cerezo was asked directly about the player’s future and the growing number of reports linking him with Barcelona.

The Atletico president left little room for interpretation when discussing the situation.
“Julian Alvarez is an Atlético de Madrid player and not just for this season but for many others. We work continuously to bring the best players to our team.
“And until August when the league starts, there’s still a lot of time to search, see, and bring them in,” he said, according to AS.
Speculation refuses to die
Cerezo’s comments come shortly after Atletico rejected a proposed meeting involving Barcelona and Alvarez’s representatives.

The Madrid club have consistently maintained that the forward is not available for transfer and continue to view him as a central figure in their sporting project.
Meanwhile, Cerezo also spoke about Atletico’s preparations for next season and suggested that the club remain active in the market.
“We’ve had a very good season, and we’re really in a position to prepare for the next one. As signings happen, they’ll be announced,” he concluded.
