‘It’s a big difference’ – Draymond Green names the biggest loser after LeBron James joined the 76ers

Draymond Green believes the Philadelphia 76ers’ signing of LeBron James is actually bad news for one of his new teammates.

James has joined three All-Stars (Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and Jaylen Brown) and a future star (VJ Edgecombe).

Although they have a better chance of winning a championship with LeBron, they will have to make some sacrifices.

Green has identified Edgecombe, who is entering his second season with the 76ers, as the biggest loser from their offseason.

How LeBron James changes VJ Edgecombe’s role in Philadelphia​

VJ Edgecombe averaged 16 points per game last season and finished third in the Rookie of the Year award race.

Edgecombe would have been expecting to take a step forward in his second season, potentially averaging more than 20 PPG.

However, the arrivals of LeBron James and Jaylen Brown mean that he is likely to be the fifth option when everyone is available.

Edgecombe probably would not admit it, but Draymond Green believes he is likely to be slightly disappointed with the situation.

“When you look at the biggest losers in this situation, it’s arguably VJ Edgecombe,” Green said on his podcast.


“If I’m VJ Edgecombe’s agent, I’m not sure I’m happy with the summer that the 76ers have had because this could affect a lot.

“You go from being sometimes the second option when Embiid was out to sometimes being the fifth option.

“It’s a big, big difference. I don’t know if y’all understand how big of a difference that is.”

Edgecombe should look at the bigger picture and focus on winning a title next season, as he still has time to achieve fame and accolades.
