Jaylen Brown’s trade to the Philadelphia 76ers has already drawn mixed reactions from the NBA community, but the discussion on the Boston Celtics trading away the 2024 Finals MVP is far from over.
Meanwhile, Andscape’s David Dennis Jr. believes the change of scenery will bring out a more aggressive and intimidating version of Brown on the court.
Why Jaylen Brown is Predicted to Become More Dangerous After 76ers Trade
Brown was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers for Paul George, two first-round picks, and two second-round picks.
That ended the Celtics’ star’s decade-long time with Boston, which culminated in a championship in 2024. The sensational trade was marred by controversies, including some bold claims across the league.
Colin Cowherd said in his show that he had spoken with two high-ranking NBA sources, an executive and a scout, who raised concerns about Brown’s personality and conduct off the court.

Cowherd said those issues reportedly created friction with both the front office and teammates.
Brown later responded during a Twitch livestream, rejecting those claims while explaining how he was processing the trade and expressing disappointment with the way the Celtics handled his exit.
During an appearance on the “First Take” podcast, Dennis defended Brown, saying that he consistently answers criticism with elite play on the court.
“One thing that we do know about Jaylen Brown is that whenever he finds himself in a position where he feels he’s being slighted or has something to prove, he goes out there and takes things to another level. He’s the Michael Jordan meme of like, ‘I took that thing personal,’” Dennis asserted.
“Now you have a situation where he’s looking at Boston trading him within the division… The next time this man walks into Boston, he is going to be on demon time,” he continued.
“He is going to go there looking to drop 50 on him. And the entire season, he’s going to look like the MVP… and he can send a care package to Boston for putting that batter on his back.”
Brown averaged 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 5.1 assists this past regular season, finishing sixth in MVP voting and earning All-NBA Second Team honors.
He carried the Celtics to the No. 2 seed while Tatum struggled with injury, which is why many thought Boston wouldn’t move on from Brown.

Instead, Brown now joins a talented 76ers roster featuring Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and VJ Edgecombe.
His contribution to the team will be a thing to watch next season, and he made it clear in his live stream that he is ready to fully embrace being the NBA’s “villain” when he suits up for Philadelphia.
There is also speculation that LeBron James might join the 76ers following Rich Paul’s comments regarding the 41-year-old’s preferred free-agent destinations.
If James ultimately lands with the 76ers, Philadelphia could enter next season with one of the NBA’s most formidable rosters.
