51 percent of the Arizona Coyotes franchise sold to Andrew Barroway

Exactly. The term sale was a tad misleading. This wasn't a "we're gone" sale. It's actually adding to the long term stability of the franchise.

    2014 Off Season Thread

The winds of change are blowing in Arizona. Gone ate Kevin Towers and Kirk Gibson, replaced by Dave Stewart and a manager to be announced. Tony LaRussa's finger prints are now firmly on the organization. What moves do they make in the off season to improve the on field product? Chat away...

    Ron Gardenhire

Just fired by Minnesota and is being linked to the Diamondbacks opening. Who favors the idea of hiring Gardenhire to replace Gibson?

DBacks close to naming Stewart GM

I would favor this. LaRussa, Watson and Stewart each could bring an element that would benefit the team long term. LaRussa would set the system. Watson would be in charge of finding the talent for the long term and Stewart the monetary issues. While Stewart may be the GM by name, I think...

Dbacks closing in on worst record in league.

Agree. What's a few extra wins mean really? Bragging rights? I'd rather see them wind up with the top pick and have their choice of who to pick in a talent heavy draft.

Who do you want to see Arizona draft

With it looking as though Arizona is going to wind up with a top 3 pick, they are going to have their pick of some legit talent. What avenue do they travel? Do they go after Aiken or Matuella and go with the hopes that they soon could have a rotation full of potential aces with either joining...

What do you think most needs done to fix the Diamondbacks next season?

I may be on my own but I'd like Lamb to get a crack at the 3B job next season. I also wouldn't object to them making moves at either Allen Craig, who the Sox reportedly may move, or Scott Van Slyke. I do agree there is some work to be done.

UFC coming to Phoenix December 13

With this market as rich in the Mixed Martial Arts scene, the UFC making an appearance here is long overdue. On December 13, it will happen as the promotion makes it's debut in the city. So far, two fights have been made official for the event: Jamie Varner (a Valley native who wrestled at...

What do you think most needs done to fix the Diamondbacks next season?

Obviously, Kevin Towers is gone and a new general manager will be taking over; under the watchful eye of Tony LaRussa. What moves do you think the Diamondbacks should make or will make in order to make steps in the right direction?

ASU New Coach - Todd Graham from Pitt

Hindsight is 20-20, however I don't think anyone still thinks Jones would have been better now.

ASU New Coach - Todd Graham from Pitt

This. He's also completely overhauled the locker room and made many changes in the program; including a heavy push for renovations to SDS that are currently being worked on; which lead me to believe he's here for the long run. The program in many ways is night and day from the Erickson years. I...

10 candidates for GM vacany named

I am fond of the Cardinal way of operation. This organization let a player widely regarded as tje best player in baseball at the time walk and were no worse off.. The very next season, they let Loshe walk on the heels of a Cy Young quality season and went to the World Series. This past...

10 candidates for GM vacany named

Beinfest was the GM for the Marlins from 2002-2013. Was badly hamstrung with the worst owner in baseball as his boss. His results of prospects and trades were a mixed bag of results. The Blue Jay salary dump has worked in their favor. Beckett for Hanley and Sanchez was good. Drafting Giancarlo...

10 candidates for GM vacany named

Tony La Russa has named his ten initial candidates for the GM vacancy. The current ten are: Allard Baird, Larry Beinfest, Billy Eppler, Gary LaRocque, Ray Montgomery, Hal Morris, Tim Pupura, Thad Levine, Dave Stewart and DeJon Watson. Some interesting names on this list.

Changing the narrative- Dbacks Farm System

Nice to see you failed to mention his OPS, which was .851 in Trenton. For grins alone, the current Eastern League leader in OPS is Matt Duffy.. His OPS? .842. Also his .245 batting average isn't exactly the worst in the world. Nor does the fact that he is only behind Kris Bryant and Joey Gallo...

Changing the narrative- Dbacks Farm System

Poor BA? He's hitting .271 on the season.. Since coming to the Diamondbacks organization, he's hit .385 with a .429 OBP and a .1044 OPS (.910 on the season). If that's bad numbers, I'll take it all day and every day.

Diamondbacks acquire former top prospect Brett Jackson

Jackson, 26, who was ranked by Baseball America as one of the top 75 prospects in baseball after the 2009, 2010 and 2011 seasons, was acquired by the D iamondbacks for minor league pitcher Blake Cooper. Very nice, low risk move by AZ. Perhaps a change of scenery will do him wonders.
