It's easy to second guess the trade, but we absolutely needed a starting PF. Maybe there were better options and maybe there weren't. Had we gone into this season without a starting PF we'd be ripping the team for doing nothing.

I for one like the aggressiveness of management to take risks, and they've shown the ability to correct mistakes, see Durant.

I'm not 100% here because they're still trading away future lottery balls for players that are underwhelming (when it comes to wins). Seems like more of the same. But the drafting seems better. And as mentioned, they addressed an obvious weakness. I'm optimistic. Life is too short.

Much of the value of that trade came from cleaning up our cap situation. I don't know if it was a fair trade or not but, if not, I don't think it was off by much considering we picked up a first and a second in the deal.

It's always been the team taking on more salary usually gets compensated by a better first round pick. I wasn't surprised we sent a first rounder, but rather there was no protection on it at all.

He was 12th but he was often mentioned as a top 10 probable. Regardless, I think we got reasonable value out of the deal. I guess in some ways we probably lost the trade but all told, we cleared enough salary to bring back several players and that's a part of the equation too.

I kinda wonder if we are trying to do the reversal trend on the NBA. Teams used to have a lot of bruisers. Then the three point shot started taking over, so teams were going taller, skinnier, and more perimeter oriented. Now it seems we are going back to adding bruisers to our team. Maybe we take advantage and rough up some teams maybe like those old Pistons teams. Just seem intentional we bring in Brooks, who is a bully. Now we bring in Bridges. Koa Peat is physical too. Seems like we are trying to bulk up a bit.

But when people are really questioned is the pick, The anger is unprotected picks are for guys that move the needle. Big name guys. Most people don't think Bridges warrants an unprotected pick. The thought is, if we are going to give out unprotected picks, it should be for a better player.

I haven't followed him closely but I have heard the rumblings through the years about his efficiency and high usage rate. Still, there are no perfect players and while he might not be a star, he draws defensive attention like one.

The Suns have never had the sense to protect any pick. All the other teams do and we NEVER have, no matter which GM or owner is involved. I am not going to get too worked up about it, but top 3 protection would have been reasonable.

This is such a weird narrative. He's did scummy things in his past, no question there, but you are speaking in absolutes. Who is giving him a free pass?

It sucks because every time we talk about this team on the court, someone like you will ALWAYS bring up the whataboutism that he had a bad past off the court. Always.

I didnt WANT Royce to have more usage, which has more to do with role on the floor than minutes. My point that even marginal players can score more and look better when they are the lead player for their team on the floor—even a player like Royce.

I am hoping that is not the case with Miles—with his usage in Charlotte. One of the worst things in the world is to get a player who thinks he is better than he is.

What an odd thing to say. The statistics back up that he is a decent starting-level power forward in the league. That isn't the same for Royce. If it was a single half- or even full season of good production, I'd say sure, you probably have a point. But he's been pretty consistent in his production over the past few years. Yes, on a bad team, but we aren't exactly barn burners at this point either.

One of the quotes by Bridges no one in the media has written about that I have seen, is Miles Bridges and his thoughts on Coach Ott. They want to develpop Bridges rebounding and defense. Bridges said that's Ott's focus for him. Bridges said Ott and him have or will watch video together. That part I didn't quite catch. Interesting, Coach Ott already has laid out a plan for personal development for Bridges and communicated it to him already.
