No, I don't think we are that far away.

I think we are a good QB, a RT and a couple of good Dline / pass rushers away. Over all our talent is not terrible.

The QB is the real issue. I guarantee you if you put Josh Allen on the Cards they would win 10-12 games and make the playoffs as is.
Beck is close enough in size to Allen....Hope you're psychic or palm reader is very good. Because I'm not prepared for another, last year crap show

Oh, you’re more than prepared… how long have you been at Cards fan? I’m pretty sure you got this.

It’s what big boy organizations do.

The Cards are not in it to win. It’s a financial endeavor for the PV Hillbillies.
The Cards have their issues but I don't know this is a fair criticism. Garrett would make no sense for them given that he is over 30 and the Cards are at least 2 years away from competing. Its the same reason the Browns traded him for an up and coming player and the Rams traded for him with a QB that has 1-2 years left. If they get to a spot where they are in discussion as a contender than yeah we should push our chips to the middle but we are nowhere near that right now.

We all recognize that the QBs in the NFC West that the Cardinals are hopeless against are Purdy, old Stafford and Sam Darnold. It’s not like the division has Mahomes, Allen, Burrow,
Lamar or any top 10 QB (unless you count old Stafford). That is how pathetic Monti has been.
I know on the surface this is not an encouraging post. But he speaks truth. Everyone has already made the decision that the cards have a....um, a qb and we need a QB. But chop has a point. Stafford is aging out, Darnold won't likely play as well this upcoming season, and Purdy is a qb that had a great team around him but has lost some pieces.

I think it's awful for the Browns.
They only got 1 first round pick for the best player in the league. And it's going to be at the end of round 1.
Verse is a good player. Garret set a sack record getting double and triple teamed every play.

That's a big fail to me.
Garrett is old and could well fall off a cliff, especially given his foot problems. They get back a (low) first, a good pass rusher, and more draft capital. They aren't winning until they get a QB and Garrett is likely done by then. It's a good deal.

By now, EVERYONE on this board should realize that the problem is NOT Monti. The problem is and has ALWAYS been our moron ownership. This isn’t rocket science. When your franchise has sucked for as long as this one has, there’s only one family to blame.
The problem is ALSO Monti. Both are true.

You don’t lose your way to success. Monti is very stupid and utterly unable to pull out of this tailspin.
I agree with your sentiment, but I still struggle, especially when considering Bidwill ownership, placing it all on Monti's doorstep. There are FAR too many variables brought into the mix because of the assumed meddling of ownership. But that is assumed, though believeable.

This is however, the first season where I lean more toward total failure rather than competent, but stuck with a garbage franchise, executive . He tethered himself to this gig, I suppose. Will probably be the end of his executive career, unless actual people in the league empathize with his situation, knowing who his boss is.

I mean I think there are too many variables to hold Monti solely accountable for us, like, not being a Super Bowl contender. But the general motion of the NFL is toward every team having between 7-11 wins.

Monti has had three chances and gotten there once. He’s likely to only have gotten us there once in four tries. At the same time, it’s really difficult to argue that he’s trying to build competitive teams and suffering from bad luck. Consistently sitting on gobs of cap room and getting outmaneuvered in free agency year after year lands on his doorstep.

Not trying to win comes down to leadership. Michael Bidwill didn’t tamper with Gannon.

I find it logical for an owner to stay out of the coaches way. He doesn't know anything about coaching/playing. He THINKS he knows how to run a football org, and I find it MUCH more plausible that his meddling hamstrings Monti at every possible turn.

Follow who's in charge of the purse strings.

Eh. I’m not convinced that Michael has strong opinions on trading down for Max Melton.

I absolutely believe that Michael had extremely strong opinions about drafting Love.

But Monti took the job. A big part of the job is managing up and selling the owner on your vision. It’s not like this is impossible to do while running a competitive team—we watched Keim do it for a decade.

Yes, that is the risk the Rams are taking. But if he has one more great season and they win the Super Bowl then it was obviously completely worth it.

Personally, I wish I was the fan of a team that wasn't afraid to go for it. Instead, we are playing "Where in the world are Jacoby and Josh? "

honest question: What QBs in the NFL today would be good enough to make the Cards a playoff team in 2026?
In 2026 with this schedule and a new set of coaches not many.

Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, maybe Mahomes, maybe Lamar. That's probably about it.

Agree. I feel like some people forget that Keim operated under these same conditions and was more successful. That doesn’t mean Keim was good, but it does show you can make moves, sign FAs, and hire a good coach working under Bidwill.

Verse is overrated to all hell.

Garrett is the best player in the league.

Straight up robbery.
Exactly!

He is not only the best player in the league he is one of the best NFL players in all of history. He is Lawrence Taylor/Reggie White on a terrible team.

Do people not understand this? The Rams just cemented themselves as the absolute favorite to win the Super Bowl by a wide margin.

Total speculation. Joe Burrow can't get the Bengals anywhere but drafting high with a team that beat the crap out of us last season.

Please stop with this nonsense.
