It's why I would look at all purpose yards and usage as metrics over just rushing yards, TDs, or wins. If Love can't be on the field in passing situations or when the Cardinals are behind, that is bad scouting because you should be taking an all around RB at 3 overall. If Love is getting 1800 yards from scrimmage similar to what Achane did last year, I don't think anyone is going to care how he produced those numbers. If he is getting 1200 ala Tony Pollard...what a waste.
agree. he has to be able to do it all at the pro level. blitz pickup, lead blocks, routes out in the slot, routes from the backfield...and be effective when handed the ball..
otherwise he was not worth a first round pick...let alone top 5 pick.

but we have seen him do it all in college

agreed and it is up to him to now show it at the NFL level. No reason to think that he won't unless the scouting on him was all wrong.

Hmm, top 10 performance or stats? He could perform to the level of a top 10 rb but be hindered by the line or game storylines and his stats wouldn’t reflect top 10 stats. Like a top 10 LT could do his job and the line overall could be bottom 10 in rushing or sacks allowed. He still did his job.
Can you think of an RB who submitted top 10 performance but not stats?

We’re not going to care if Love gets 800 AP yards of the Cards win 11 games.

If love gets an empty 1000 yards rushing while the Cards go 6-11 we’ll be asking WTH we bought because we already have that capability in Tyler Allgeier.

If this cards team wins 6 games I think it will be in large part due to love. And I’ll hate 6 wins.

James Conner had 1000 yards rushing and 1200 AP yards in 2023. Anyone feel good about that?

Anyone feel good about the 1054/1500 he had in 2024? Both those seasons felt like butt.

Dunno about that. Picking 3rd we ended up with Fitz, dansby and docket and it could be said that propelled us to our only superbowl.
Yeah but the eleventy billion other times people said that it didn't work. Look at Arian era...just brought in good football players and never had a top five pick to work with.

We had a QB though. We were mostly nothing without him when he got hurt. That's the gamble with a high pick next year, to grab our QB. Unless somehow Beck turns out to be him.

Exactly. If we're bad and we mostly expect we will be especially with our schedule, odds are we're going to be behind in lots of games and passing. So he might get less rush attempts. But then surprise, he projects to be a REALLY good pass receiver for a RB so he'll still have value even when behind..
