Very excited to see how they play this year with a (hopefully) solid PF. Not Amaré size, but pretty athletic and with some inside game it looks like. How far do we have to go back to find a better 4/PF on the Suns?
I think you answered your own question. Amare. I know he technically played center for us but he was a prototypical power forward. And a highly aggressive one at that.Very excited to see how they play this year with a (hopefully) solid PF. Not Amaré size, but pretty athletic and with some inside game it looks like. That's pretty awesome. Bridges should thus be better than Channing Frye, Markieff Morris, Jae Crowder, Dario Saric... We'll see!
Truck Robinson and Xavier McDaniels come to mind.I sure hope so, that list shows just how bad our PF's have been. It's been 10-12 years since Fry or Morris played for the suns.
Crowder and Saric played here, 2021 and 2022 and neither averaged more than 10ppg.
The best suns PF's I can remember, (since I've been a fan early 90's):
Barkley
Amare
Maybe:
McDyess
Googs
Manning
I'm sure I'm missing someone, or at least I hope I am, that's a pathetic list for 3 1/2 decades
Yeah, two of our big swing and miss targets. I really thought each of them was going to be the answer for us but neither lived up to our expectations.Truck Robinson and Xavier McDaniels come to mind.

Yup, that's about the size of it since Amare. Yikes! Bridges actually is the best player at that position for the Suns for well over a decade, even if his qualifications as a "true" PF are somewhat suspect. That's pretty awesome. So, you're saying you're not ready to crown his ass?Is he though? He's not much of a defender, he doesn't rebound well (if we're calling him a PF), he isn't a good shooter.
So far in his career he's a guy who has put up stats on terrible teams. He's Jeremi Grant but without the outside shooting.
Maybe the change of scenery will do him good, but I am hesitant to crown him when, outside of relatively inefficient scoring, he's not done anything in his career.
Not disagreeing. Just emphasizing how pathetic the PF position has been for the Suns for the better part of 15 years. Is he though? He's not much of a defender, he doesn't rebound well (if we're calling him a PF), he isn't a good shooter.

Leaping Larry Nance ring a bell? Bridges is more like Barkley. I'm excited!!I sure hope so, that list shows just how bad our PF's have been. It's been 10-12 years since Fry or Morris played for the suns.

Before my time. Don't recall ever seeing him play.Leaping Larry Nance ring a bell? Bridges is more like Barkley. I'm excited!!
His stats may be similar, but he's not half the player Amare was.Bridges averaged 19ppg and 7rpg the last three seasons. Even those numbers would make him the best PF the suns have had since Amare, (15 years). Amare's career stats are 19ppg and 8rpg.

Koa is not going to play this year he was not a top ten pick. To much dreaming. Bridges is the real dealI’m not betting on a single answer at power forward or center for that matter.
Instead, the key is depth. I’m hoping to see a versatile rotation featuring Miles Bridges, Rasheer Fleming, and Koa Peat mixing it up at the four and even sliding down to small-ball center.
To really excel, they’ll need solid, reliable contributors at both spots, not just one player.
I do want to say Trunk was really good. That tells you how good the others were goodThe best Suns forwards were Chambers, Barkley and Nanch. Manning cost us title when he got hurt

I live ya Main Street butAlthough I suspect he might. Players that are winners tend to find minutes. I'm not saying he will start though.
