Bankruptcy.

Dutch Bros just bought all of their locations/material goods.

Oof, I missed that they were actually closing. Saw that Dutch Bros bought them and thought it was just a corporate buyout. Seemed like those places were always busy at lunch.

Yeah, Dutch was like, "We don't want your branding. We don't want your recipes. We just want your established turn-key locations."

Think of how much they just saved in building permits, construction costs, etc. Genius.

And if a location isn't suitable for a Dutch due to traffic concerns or the handful that aren't drive-thru locations - you just sell them off individually.

Exactly. That was part of the problem with Salad and Go. The original owners were smart about store placement. Then they sold out and went on to create Angie's Lobster and Angie's Prime Grill. The new owners of Salad and Go put some new locations too close to already existing locations. If you have an inexpensive food place - people will drive out of their way to go to you. But, instead, they had a strong location at Alma School and Southern and then built a new location at Country Club and Baseline - only 2 miles away. Poor planning, IMHO.

Never been to Dutch Bros. or Salad and Go just driven by. It doesn't seem like a good time to over expand, especially the restaurant/fast food business. It sucks the employees were blindsided like that. I was part of a business that was shut down by the regulators because the owner embezzled $10 million of escrow funds. Came in on Friday and said we couldn't take anything out, even personal stuff (ladies could take their purses). It sucked.
