i'm giving monti some love for monti giving us some love

people said we had bigger needs - people said selecting love at #3 was a luxury the cardinals weren't ready for - a lot of people actually felt bad for love

now in camp we're hearing tyler has been the feature back but i got two words for you - funk that

tyler allgeier was a good pick up but he's just not that guy - sorry but he's not - sure he's had his moments and unlike last year's runningback room tyler can stay on the field - in his 4 year career he's played in 67 out of 68 games - that's damn impressive

but his ypc isn't anything to write home about and that's not the half of it - what concerns me is tyler's receiving stats - probably not worth looking at but here you go

like i said - tyler shall not receive - that leaves lafleur with love - conner - benson

james conner took a gigantic pay cut so he wouldn't get cut - straight up - players don't recover as well or as quickly in their 30s - especially runningbacks - james conner might be coming back but i don't think he's ever "coming back"

and trey benson? me and russ love him but only due to potential - he boasts a really nice ypc - he caught the ball a little in his last year in college but homie couldn't stay on the field - he has no trade value due to this

benson did have 16 passes come his way in just 4 games last season so there is that

when you put it all together drafting love wasn't a luxury it was the only option - knock petzing all you want but detroit saw what he did with brissett and no runningbacks - thankfully/hopefully lafleur won't suffer the same fate

love isn't just runningback - i don't care where he's lined up he's still a receiver - the spies that were assigned to watching/containing kyler murray will now be dedicated to jeremiyah love

imo - love is the only back on our roster that brings the true play action threat because he's the only dual threat - he alone can put a team's blitzing scemes on pause - plus he can pass block

everything I am seing is that LaFleur doesn't like to overwhelm rookies he thinks there's so much for them to keep track of that you can't just throw a rookie in there and give them too much work. He said nobody can handle all 65 snaps. So my guess is early on TA will get some load that later in the year will go to Love if he's as good as I think he is.

Brissett said it the other day I can see why we gave Love 50 million. I saw Albert Breer(?) the other day do a TC report and he said the Cards RB room looks "loaded" but he said if you watch in drills and on the field Love just "stands out" immediately, jumps off the page to you he's just at another level in terms of explosiveness and he's such a good receiver. Breer is one who said he will probably be a bit by committee early until LaFleur thinks he's ready but he thinks Love is going to be an absolute star.

Appparently LaFleurs offense is pretty complex he's a stickler for detail because so many of the plays come from similar formations and look similar but are different so you have to do it just right or it tips the defense.

I’ve heard just the opposite. It’s actually quite simple and he’s dialed it back because everyone is new. This was from the athletic football show podcast.

What I meant by complex was detail oriented. They line up in very similar formations but the play is diferent. If everyone does their job the defense doesn't know until too late it's a different scheme but if guys don't do their job they tip off the defense.



I expect our offense to be quite good this year. wilson said it in an ESPN piece the key is we have enough pieces now if teams scheme to take away say McBride we have confidence the other guys will win their 1 on 1 matchup and make them pay

Also looking forward to more motion, we were one of the teams with the least amount of pre snap motion, the Rams were one of the ones with the most motion pre snap.

The OL is my biggest question and mainly RT and RG I expect the offense to be significantly better this year. We were literally playing dudes off the street at RB for half of last yea now we have Love, a whole other level of explosive.

Unfortunately the detail will come with repetition meaning we will be 4-6 games in before a positive benefit is obtained.
