Shows how little I know about soccer rules. I thought this one was less clear than Folarin's because the English player got the ball first but I watched an explanation and then read in the Independent and htey both said the same thing the England one is a clear red card because even though he got the ball he came in spikes up. Folarin made contact with the spikes but they weren't up it was a flukey land his foot on the back of the guys legs.

Note the explanation I saw said they were both red cards, but the English guy was more obvious.
It's really hard to understand. there is a lot of ambiguity in soccer with the way players challenge each other. and FIFA has kind of made their own bed here because they have basically let the players be more physical in this world cup and have done little to quell escalation until it is too late. So now players are taking advantage of that as they will always do regardless of how the refs call the game.

that's the downside to "letting the players play" and not rewarding diving. what they need to do is be more consistent in cautioning divers and punishing instigators (see the paraguay france game), and if they get that wrong, rescind those fouls. it's pretty easy to do if they want to do it and stay consistent. but they never stay consistent with how they enforce the rules.

If he keeps his feet on the ground, he will actually hit the ball, and the ball would make contact with the player's leg. knocking him over yes, but not likely to injure the player. the player came in with the studs first that hit the player high in the leg. He does hit the ball, but he goes over the top of the ball, and the studs make dangerous contact with the leg. that tackle is a leg breaker if the leg is planted on the ground. That's why the Mexican player throws his body into the air. not to dive and draw a foul, but to protect his leg from getting broken.

Jared Borgetti whines about England winning saying they didn't deserve to win. I guess he is playing the Jesse Marsh card. Give me a break dude. This is classic Borgetti. Mexico was at home in the Azteca and played a man up for 30 mins, maybe longer. England took all of their chances and as Mexico always do, they can't score nearly enough proportional to the chances that they create. and it's the same complaints almost every time they lose in the round of 16.

I'm betting FIFA probably does to just so they don't have to hear about what Trump/they did moving forward every time the US plays.

fifa is screwed either way

if usa wins the world is pissed

if usa loses the world's biggest baby is pissed

Their beer is much better than their pastries. If you drink 3 or 4 Duvel by the end of this game the pain will go away.

Best beer in the world is made in Belgium. And I did a lot of research.
we're playing like complete budweiser tonight

Well, good while it lasted. The Belgians had better fundamentals, played better as a team, and were coached better. We probably had the better physical athletes. We got as far as we could with our skills, coaching, etc. Belgium was obviously the better team.
