It's really hard to understand. there is a lot of ambiguity in soccer with the way players challenge each other. and FIFA has kind of made their own bed here because they have basically let the players be more physical in this world cup and have done little to quell escalation until it is too late. So now players are taking advantage of that as they will always do regardless of how the refs call the game.Shows how little I know about soccer rules. I thought this one was less clear than Folarin's because the English player got the ball first but I watched an explanation and then read in the Independent and htey both said the same thing the England one is a clear red card because even though he got the ball he came in spikes up. Folarin made contact with the spikes but they weren't up it was a flukey land his foot on the back of the guys legs.
Note the explanation I saw said they were both red cards, but the English guy was more obvious.
