Whether right or not, I listen more to the audience score. We will have to see, but I suspect this may end up being more of a cult film, which is often okay with me, too.
75 ain't glowing reviews either.

I hear the Supergirl performance itself is really good, but the movie around her can't rise to her level.

kicks off on R/T at 59/75
It's getting over run with misogynist reviews. RT is done and actual movie goers are avoiding it now. There are much better alternatives out there.

Saw it in IMAX and didn't hate it. I think it was a missed opportunity to really draw in the Guardians crowd, this is a straight sci-fi movie not really a Superhero one. But it still has some of the weaknesses of the superhero genre, namely the quality of the villain. And probably not enough of Lobo in it.

But I will say, that I really though Millie knocked it out of the park. There was so much crap about her going into this, I thought she was fantastic.

So it's the same issues as Superman. The main character is acted fantastically but the villian / movie combo is underwhelming / goofy.

Looking at all showings on $5 Tuesday, there are a total of 12 tickets sold across 6 showings...

This is worse than He Man engagement

At the moment I am sitting happily in seat G1 awaiting the 10pm start of the movie .

Locally here the turnout has been pretty good ...that's saying a lot because this is the birth place of George Lucas and every june we dedicate a couple weeks to classic car shows and cruising. So nobody puts much into movies in june ...but yet they have come for this...we shall see I guess.
Will let y'all know how it turns out

Okay, I am home.
@Stout you were looking for someone who disliked Supes to step up for this one...I was looking forward to being that guy for you.
But Im not sure I can...I disliked Supes,...and I liked Super Girl... But I aint sure why I liked it. Honestly this movie left me mostly confused,...uncertain..
They didnt over play the "Girl Power" angle,...which in this case might have been a con...I mean, she is Super Girl,...so girl power is kinda implied...
But the truth is,...she was only Super Girl for about ten minutes...I dunno,..I cant say much without dropping out major spoilers.

I liked it...as a sci-fi movie with a mix of Mad-Max meets Guardians of the Galaxy with a sloppy side dish of Star Wars prequels...because it wasnt clean sci fi.

The acting was decent enough...of the mains, Mamoa was probably the worst.....which one might see as a given honestly,.... but even he did a decent job with what he had to work with...I mean what can you really do with a body building space vampire bounty hunting biker??...but Mamoa at least looked like he really enjoyed the job.

In all honesty, I think the best "acting" was done by the aussie dude that played the main villain...he did a pretty nice job...google says it is ... Matthias Schoenaerts ... so not aussie,.belgian.,..dude was nails in this one though..

much of it was the writing... I went in expecting a serious Supes type Kryptonian film...we got a fast and loose SG coming of age film...

truthfully, I liked it... but im gonna have to catch it again to see if I truly liked it or I just didnt dislike it

The Guardians formula is played out. We need heroes and the hero arch back even more so for females.

A California wino that hates men and hates being a hero inspires no one. These blue haired cat ladies need to stop injecting themselves into everything.

The irony of complaining about a character who 'hates being a hero' while actively working to discourage studios from making female-led superhero films is pretty rich.

Milly Alcock's Supergirl is a trauma survivor trying to figure out who she is. That's not a political statement, that's a character arc. The same one we celebrated in every male hero from Iron Man to Thor.

The only thing being 'injected into everything' here is the assumption that a female hero has to be inspiring to you specifically to be worth making. She doesn't.

this here in bold...thats straight ********... this is someone trying to push a narative...
nobody celebrated drunken fat ass Thor,...most of us felt pretty disgusted about it in truth...
and wuss boy Stark that got so far into his emo self that he betrayed all his friends and caused civil war?? Nobody celebrated that either.

but I saw some people trying to push that sexism angle on tv...you must have seen them too...that ***** way played out man.

every thing bad about Super Girl can be summed up in two simple words...
Bad writing...

as to yhe second point... whats being "Injected"..
for one...yeah...a super hero should be inspiring to everyone...to think otherwise is simply being divisive ....to hint that a female super hero should only inspire girls is sexist and divisive.

but what is being injected...yeah...injected.... is the idea that super hero movies have to somehow be serious...that suddenly they need to be serious dramas with full development and character arcs,,,

thats crap...they dont..they are comic book super heros...their story does not have to make sense because it wasnt built on modern day physics.
the arcs for these character was written and filed away fifty years ago...either use the character arc the original writer used,....or just leave it alone.

But thanks...I been spending the last couple days trying to figure out rather I really liked this movie or not...and that right there is the issue...the writers try to turn it into a serious drama...while glossing over the fact that a 12 year old girl spent decades in a little pod with no food, water, or place to take a crap...arrived on her cousins back porch better than google maps, and can throw a building right through a donut from 500 yards..
she can do all that amazing crap... but she cant cope.....

do you really want a chick like that trying to protect the planet................

Oh God. Fat Thor and Civil war didn’t happen for YEARS and yes when we got Ironman Tony was trying to figure out who he was and same with Thor.

Hell it’s pretty much the same with all these movies that introduce a hero. Hell did you watch Spider Noir? “With no power comes no responsibility”

This story arch isn’t new or exclusive to women at all.

I never said it was new...or that it was exclusive to females...
I said it was not "celebrated"...and it wasnt.

there were people all over the net hating on fat Thor and emo Tony wanting to give up decision making power because "He" personally made bad decisions and was incapable of controlling himself without oversight.

so, no,...of course it is not exclusive to females... but its not :celebrated" in males either...that's just a lie that's being spread to create division.

Like I said we didn’t get those story lines for YEARS. You keep talking about fat Thor that didn’t happen till the very end of Marvels 20 movie 10 year run

But didn’t he wanna give up his powers and doubt himself in Ragnarok. Wasn’t that the whole thing? Haven’t we seen Spider-Man struggle with the weight of his powers all the time?

Dude it’s been celebrated a ton in super hero stuff. Kingdom Come is Superman being like na I’m good.
