Given this front offices trade activity, this is the part that’s most interesting. And remember, I’m the guy who ridicules the “other shoe is going to drop” hypotheses. But ish and co have been mad scientist tinkerers. So that’s a very real possibility.

Following my comment the other day about ish making things happen, this front office has also shown an incredible ability to make moves when you think they’re boxed in without flexibility. It will likely all come due in the future at some point, but I’ve got to admire their continued creativity.

Every time I think I can tune out, they tune me back in for weal or woe

Duration matters. Plenty of ppl in Charlotte are glad he’s gone and the franchise has one less distraction going forward.
Have haven't listened to the radio today
. Tomorrow I'll give it a listen but I doubt Charlotte fans are glad he's gone. he's been an angel for a few years. I'm sure they talked to Mark Williams about him . Word is he is great in the locker room

The only way I like this is if we take some of newly freed up picks and Jalen to trade for Jaylen Brown. That's not likely happening but I think it would make us a dark horse in the West.

Book, Brown, Brooks, Bridges, Williams is an intriguing lineup.

The Suns have loaded up some larger combo forwards but someday I wish they would humor me and add a big man I want.

I digested this for a minute. Not the worst trade this ownership has done, but there are a few things that irritate me:

1) We'll get the DV stuff out of the way. Obviously, I dont condone DV by any means and it does make me somewhat uneasy that Bridges is on the roster. But none of us are going to stop supporting or cheering for the Suns because of this move; so let's cut out the virtue signaling unless you are truly going to burn your Suns paraphernalia, cancel your NBA package or sell your season tickets. If we win a title with Bridges, I guarantee none of you will be referencing his DV case during the championship parade. He's now on the team. Accept it. Just dont buy his jersey and dont ask for his autograph.

2) I'm concerned that we have a D'Antoni 2.0 situation on our hands. Re-signing Williams and keeping Oso is taking away from Maluach's development, and trading for Miles Bridges is impacting Fleming's and to a lesser extent, Koa's development. I dont want another coach that ignores playing young players.

3) the 2033 first didnt need to be unprotected, and if it is, this really bites.

4) This infatuation with Michigan State is a little concerning. From Izzo interviewing for the HC job to almost every staff member having Spartan ties, this is becoming one of the most nepotistic ownership teams in sports history. Unless prime Magic Johnson plans on joining, this is a distraction. $50 says that the Suns aggressively go after Jeremy Fears in the draft next season.

5) I wonder if the financial flexibility gained from this trade opens the doors to another significant move this offseason. FWIW, Flex thinks there's a shooter we're after.

6) Amidst all of the craziness, Miles is a former 20/8 guy in a contract year, so it's not like we just got a scrub. Front court athleticism and physicality were legit concerns last season. Royce and Grayson werent solving those issues.

Plenty are glad he is gone, and they are happy with the 2033 pick. Thats the quick take from the Charlotte RealGM board.

Sure thing bud. I don't have any Suns paraphernalia or season tickets, but yes, this makes my decision not to renew League Pass an easier one. True, I was already leaning in that direction, but after this trade, there's no debate.

There is not a chance in hell that the Suns are winning a title with Bridges. His impact on the court is probably a net positive, but it sure isn't a big one.

He's now on the team. Accept it.

Well obviously, but isn't the point of a sports board to talk about the way things are, in addition to how they could have been, used to be, or might be in the future? Can you clarify for us which topics you've decided are off limits?

I am not buying the "financial flexibility" bonus of this trade. I have every expectation that he's going to get an ugly extension.

Something like 3 years 100 million, maybe a bit north of that.

I’ll be honest… this definitely dims my already waning interest of the team and legitimately has me questioning whether or not I actually maintain any rooting interest. And it wouldn’t be the first time I just shut the Suns down in my life. When Kidd punched his wife in the face over a French fry back in 2001, I stopped rooting for the Suns until that piece of crap was gone. And that offseason, Colangelo did the right thing and shipped him out, to the detriment of his own team’s success.

I applauded that move with same fervor I condemn this one.

gonna need a fat blunt just to wrap my head around this - i think i'm in shock - the world cup panel suddenly sounds like charlie brown teachers - it's not just their accents

but i don't think miles starts for starters
Agreed. Don't get it. He's not a defensive whiz. All I can figure is the $10m difference in salaries and that they intend to really develop Fleming, and that Bridges is just insurance. But paying that for a guaranteed bencher? I don't get it.

That would be the dumb thing to do, so that's exactly what they'll do

I'm trying not to get caught up in this stuff too much, just like the Mark Williams signing.

It feels like the Suns are crossing a stream on the run, jumping from rock to rock.

Hopefully the Suns are playing chess while their youngsters develop.

I am really going to need to hear some explanation / reassurance from the front office. I got a wife and a daughter and it made me sick telling my wife about this trade.

Also, from a basketball perspective, if you are handing a dude a multi year contract who is actively on probation and is probably a misstep from missing a significant amount of time, it just seems like all risk.

For such little reward. This isn’t even like we’re selling our soul for a superstar (which would also be bad!). But doing it for a non-All Star, who a horrible franchise like Charlotte is happy to get rid of…

I’m tired of this talk about Oso, Flem and KP. They can still develop with Brooks and Bridges starting. They are late first or second picks. They should not be starting.
