I’m
Not saying it’s one to one. I’m just saying we’re loading up almost to the second apron by signing role players to long term deals for a team that barely made the playoffs. That just doesn’t make much sense to me… especially in Williams’ case where we have a young promising big who needs court time AND is cheap and so far can actually be depended on to stay on the court.

Locking in a perennial 8 seed close to the second apron just seems like masturbating with a cheese grater. Sure, you might get off at the end of the day, but it’s gonna be pretty painful to do so and the aftermath could sting for years.
barely made the playoffs *in their first year together - surpassing everybody's expectations - knicks have built chemistry by staying together - scrubs and roll players included - im thinking we can improve our seeding this year and maybe win a series - which is pretty freakin awesome

That would be pretty awesome. I just think it’s pretty unbelievable to think it will happen when literally every team above them except the Warriors are either younger than us or more talented than us or younger and more talented than us… and we did nothing to add to the team.

And before you say our young guys are going to get better, the same can be said for all the teams above us that also have young talent.

Talent wise, he’s a lot better than this contract.

It’s certainly a gamble on health. He didn’t play back to back, we limited him to 24 minutes a night, but by the end of the year he was toast.

Ideally, man man looks good, Williams stays healthy for the first half of the year and he becomes a valuable trade piece.

The Suns doubled down on those two first round picks they used to trade for him.

hey @Hoop Head i'm hoping we can bury the hatchet and keep it basketball - i debated on sending a dm but wanted to say my bad publicly - i didn't keep it about sports and refused to talk to you about sports on a sports site infront of everyone we consider family and i'm sorry for that - you are right - we got along splendidly pre-whatever

i'm trying to work on some things and i've said some things here in the suns forum that didn't belong in the suns forum at all - i apologize for that too - it kinda sucks with you around less - i like your takes - please accept my apology and I'm down to keep it basketball

Is anyone surprised at the speed of how the Suns are doing business this off season? They banged out the three major contracts they needed to do, rapid fire. Looks like at decent values, too. Looks from the outside like professionals are running the show. LOL.

How it should be.

Far cry from James Jones and his silent plodding through the offseason.l

We absolutely can, it doesn't go into effect this season.
if we can i expect we will - gregory/ish have pumped out 3 contracts in like a week - but would the signing bonus (for dillon) hamper our cap?

The Suns will go over the apron in 2027-28’ if they extend Brooks. Jalen opting out or getting trading would be a Godsend. The Suns are paying 5 guards $125m not counting Beal’s dead money. ☠️

Just asking a question in general, do NBA players get signing bonuses? I am thinking that's an NFL thing?

We have a few deals expiring and some options after this season. It's not a sure thing we'll be over the apron if we extended Brooks. I think doing so now isn't a smart move because he should be more down to earth statistically if everyone is healthy and that means a lesser payday.

Grayson and Jalen both have player options. Both opting out would create over $50 million in flexibility. I suspect one of them will.

jalen is our most valuable asset not named devin booker - he is worth a lottery pick maybe more

They are already over the first apron, it's the second we can't get to - but we still have 7.5 million before hitting that.

I think there is a good chance we extend Jalen this offseason also, as next year is a player option.

You are dead wrong about trading Jalen - he is our most promising young player. If any guard needs to go it is Booker, but none should have to. We can probably resign Green for similar money to what he is making now. Also I don't think Dillon will get much of a raise either.

Grayson surely won't, players like him can't get that much anymore.

It would depends on the season Green has as to what he would do. Don't think the Suns want to take the chance of losing him for nothing, so I think we either resign him this Summer or trade him by the deadline if we get the feeling he may be wanting to opt out.

Absolutely not. He’s got no future here beyond his contract. He was in the KD deal to match salaries. We’re paying 5 guards more than half the salary cap.
