Great win. The game turned when Australia brought on all their subs but the USA saw it out. The great thing is we didn’t have to use the bench and can rest multiple players in the next game and reset yellow cards.

1-0 Paraguay winning. This game looks like a red card fest in the making. Hopefully the USA win the group tonight!

While I’m not the biggest soccer fan in the world it’s been fun to watch some of these games. However I just can’t get past the flopping these guys do each game. Frankly it’s embarrassing for the sport itself.

The ref lost control of the game. But I also thought Paraguay established early on that they were going to play the refs and turkey got sucked into that. Turkey should have won that game playing up a man as long as they did. And if refs are going to stop the game for every single time a guy stays down that is only going to make flopping worse. Hopefully that ref gets disciplined.

Turns out our group was one of the easiest.

But how are we going to look against a real side? Like Brazil or Germany?

I hope we don’t get our asses handed to us by one of those teams in the round of 16 or the quarter finals.

If we do, then all of this bluster and strutting around in the group stage won’t mean anything.

We’ll still be the LA Chargers of FIFA.

Group D actually didn’t have a minnow in the group. These are all considered mid World Cup teams including USA. Many of the others had minnows. Brazil played Haiti last night. Coming into this tournament many people said turkey was the best team in this group. Based on what I saw from Paraguay last night, I’m even more impressed with that win now. Ultimately the USA will have to beat a very good team to advance to a level that they have never gone before and that still seems like a very tall task.

But if you told me that they would win this group after 2 games with pulisic only playing one half of ball, I would have been very impressed with that.

The incessant flopping has plagued the sport for a while, unfortunately. It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't act like they were being shot every time. That should be an automatic yellow card.

this Dutch side look most impressive today. Sweden are a decent side offensively and they are getting embarrassed. Not sure what the Swedes were doing in the first 25 mins. They were just jogging around watching the Dutch play.

SWE gets one back but the Orange so silky smooth with the ball. Poetry in motion.
They put on a clinic today. We’ve seen it many times before. Can they keep it going? I still think Sweden were way too passive at the start. I’m enjoying the Ivory Coast Germany game. Fun to watch. Impressed with both.

Wow Ivory Coast squander a brilliant chance to take the lead. You have to put that on frame.

Great match. iVC looking plenty dangerous. They’ll be a tough out in the knockout stage for sure.

GER so damn determined though. And relentless.

Let's not already assume we're making it through the round of 32.

It is a major difference between playing a 2nd place team and a third-place team. I'd hate to have to face a team like Ivory Coast in that first game. they really pushed Germany to the edge.
