did sorsby declare for the supplemental draft - cuz i thought they said he could go back to school

if he's choosing the draft over school I'm guessing he might know who wants him and where he might be going - idk - i haven't been keeping up
What's wrong with you, not keeping up? :thewave: :p

The Cardinals’ crowded QB room shouldn’t matter one iota when evaluating Brendan Sorsby. Trade Jacoby, keep four quarterbacks, whatever.

This is about the long-term, and if you love Sorsby’s game, draft him and then figure it out.

I have my doubts the NFL will approve this Brendan Sorsby appeal for the supplemental draft. Every team is mandated to have training for their players in regards to the dangers of gambling the NFL takes it very seriously and they make sure the players know they can NOT participate. Some former players along with an NFL lawyer visit teams to warn about the dangers and consequences. Currently if you bet on your own team automatic 2-year minimum suspension. If you bet on other games 1-year minimum. Now Sorsby was not in the NFL but still I could see them making him do much more extensive treatment before allowing him in. Time will tell.

I think this guy is really similar to Jalen Hurts play style wise.

I would consider a third or a fourth the right spot for the risk

Here is the argument likely being made in the front office.

You take Sorsby like round 3. You get rid of Jacoby and let Minshew start early. Then later in the season you let the rookies play and see how it shakes out.

If either Beck or Sorsby show potential during a lost season, you are selling that pick for a ransom that way outweighs the 3rd you gave up now.

If neither works out, you take another stab at QB. All it cost you was one of the round 3 picks Monti lights on fire every year anyway

I'm guessing you wouldn't be using a 2027 1st rounder on a QB and it frees them up to take a top player at another position. If Sorsby has a 1st round grade, I'd have no problem taking with a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th. Although, it would likely have to be a 2nd.
And, who cares about managing Beck or Minshew? Teams need a top QB to win. I keep hearing his skillset is that of Jay Cutler. If he's not a douchebag like Cutler, I'd take that talent in round 2 every day.
Personally, I think he needs a lot of work and don’t think he is capable of showing enough to make you pass on a franchise qb next year.

I’ll stay with Beck here. The Cardinals picked Beck earlier than most thought he would go so It would seem they believe in what he can be.

For Sorsby, I hope he gets the help he needs. I can’t imagine a 30-35 day or whatever treatment cures his addiction. If it’s like any other addiction, he’ll have it for the rest of his life. Does he deserve another chance, I don’t know. Time will tell but just don’t see it in Arizona.

Yeah it makes zero sense to take Sorsby who already has red flags. The Cards used the #65 overall pick on Beck, which is one pick away from being a 2nd rounder. So they clearly liked him enough to take him that high. Taking Sorsby at this point would mean he comes in already behind the curve. How would the Cards be able to figure out what they had with 2 rookies right before a critical draft in 2027.

It just make zero sense unless they are "following the Browns model", which no one has said ever.
agree.. the only way I see them taking this kid is if they were already predicting him as a first round guy next year.
Because you gotta know what you have before the 2027 draft which should have several viable QB prospects...
But can you really develop a bit and then assess two rookies in one season??

we can get a feel for Beck...and if he aint gonna be it, we got april to fall back on... but what if Beck is playing "decent"..showing progress..but you ainy 100% sure...do you pull him and interrupt his development and audition to throw sorsby in for 6 or 8 games to see what he has?

seems to me we would end up with two young guys in a situation that left us with more questions than answers and we get stuck in the first round next april standing at the podium with our dick in our hand wondering what to do.

however..if they legit like Beck...and they legit had sorsby as a first round prospect for next april... then get him.
Make Beck and sorrsby fight it out.
there are two jobs to be had,..but only one starting job...go earn it fellas!

in the meantime...say sayonara to Briskett...and use uncle rico for the veteran competition... Menshew is close enough to borderline that he is the guy you have to beat in order to be a legit QB

If we get Sorsby and release Jacoby, I can see Las Vegas moving the Over/Under games won by Arizona for this season. Probably by a half game, but don't know which way the arrow will move. Anyone have an opinion?

I think the NFL is very likely to toss him on the ineligible list, if that happens before the supplemental draft, he will probably go undrafted, if the league is still weighing the issue... the highest I can think he'd go would he the 4th round.

If that happens, toss a 7 at him. Why not?

This is why any team willing to give up anything higher than a 4th is DAF. Give up a 1st or 2nd and that amount of money for a dude who can be suspended for 2 years with one slip up? No freaking way!
