Thanks Philly. I was initially a Sixers fan in the mid 60’s when Chamberlain was there. I have always hated the Celtics & Lakers, so I couldn’t root for the Lakers when Chamberlain went there. I do remember celebrating when the Sixers won the 67 championship, but once Wilt left, I became a Knicks fan when they drafted Clyde Frazier, Willis Reed, and traded for Dave DeBusschere. Those early 70’s Knicks teams were so much fun, especially when we traded for Earl the Pearl Monroe from the then Baltimore Bullets. Earl was one of my all time faves. I wore #15 throughout my high school years.
They were my team. The battles between Reid and Unseld were classics. The Bullets/Wizards last championship was 1978 beating Seattle. Unseld/Hayes combination. I remember when they played the National Anthem when the line Home of the Free played everyone yelled "E" for Elvin "Big E" Hayes instead of free. Good days.

The Nickname Bullets came from a nearby ammunition foundry in Baltimore.

Bullets & Knicks had some epic battles during that era. Reed was a few inches taller than Unseld, but they both were built like defensive linemen. The Knicks won the 69-70 championship, but the following year, I remember the Bullets eliminated the Knicks in game 7 at MSG.

when I was coming up the NBA was a nobody league... it was all about Lakers/Celtics...and I usually cheered Lakers just because I grew up in Cali... even when the Warriors won a title,...the following season they couldnt even give tickets away... I won Warriors tickets on the radio like six times...and I was only like 12 years old, lol... nobody even bothered to call in to the radio station to try and get them.

But then I moved to Phoenix, and one night with nothing on TV...I was flippin channels and saw the Lakers...and they were playing the local Phoenix team that I had never heard of..so I watched out of boredom mostly...
and the suns proceeded to kick the crap out of the Lakers...with guys like Tom Chambers and Jeff Hornacek....suddenly I was enamored of the Suns...and it ushered in the Golden Age of the NBA...a time where we had the joy of watching Jordan, Barkley, Olajuwan, still had Magic and Bird,..Drexler, Payton..Stockton and Malone....Good lord, the NBA never had a run like the nineties..it was amazing.

Im just now getting the feeling again for hoops...starting to follow the Suns again...
Its time.

That was my 4th/5th grade years. Just when I started excelling at hoops and playing organized ball. I started watching every basketball game I could catch on tv and adopted the Sixers as my favorite team: Cheeks/Toney/Jones/Malone/Iavaroni and of course Dr. J, my original favorite player. I loved that team.

Then when they drafted Barkley, he became my new favorite player. I even wore Barkley's shoe my senior year in high school. Those things were awful and gave me blisters lol.

When Barkley was traded to the Suns I started following the Suns too and then when I moved down here from Oregon it was extremely easy to adopt them as my team.
