Good to see Raul Jimenez score. Hard to believe that was his first WC goal? He’s overcome a lot. I don’t know about that last red card. But also a dumb tackle. I heard Ian Darke say that if US and Mexico both finish 2nd they would play in the knockout.

South Korea and Czechia has been fun. Korea with a lot of scoring chances. Czechia have been clinical on set pieces.

Going back in time since I watched the WC. USA, France, South Korea, Germany and Russia all did better than expected playing at home. A win tonight would put the USA on that trajectory to have that chance.

The United States is going to win the World Cup!!

It's actually a great tongue-in-cheek article.
Well that means there will be a first of some sort in this World Cup. I think if all the USA players are bought in and play together, they have a chance to win at least a game or two in the knockout stages. Anything beyond winning a game in the knockout stage would be a surprise. But we often see weird things happen. The added teams means that the top teams should make it out of their groups, but we always see top teams struggle. And there’s always a team or two that goes farther than they are supposed to. I’m most worried about our defensive play.
