Friday's announcement from the Bears regarding the intention to move forward with a new stadium in Hammond, Indiana doesn't mean much, because it's not binding on the Bears.

The negotiating tactic was last December. Maybe Illinois steps up, but at this point I doubt they do.

We should demand Congress pass a bill that teams have to be called the name of the place they play. Hammond Bears. New Jersey Jets and Giants. Santa Clara 49ers. Inglewood Rams.

Asking because I don't know. How far is Hammond, Indiana from Chicago? I do know about how far the Meadowlands is from NYC.
