This is seriously crazy to me…Let him ride the bench, I wouldn’t even cut him, let him rot on the bottom of the depth chart.

If the Cards fold to a guy who was 1-11 and who absolutely crumbled in every game last year when it mattered…I mean I don’t even have words for this kind of lunacy.

If Monti really thinks JB is the answer and gives him a raise and an extension just fire the guy now. This is year 4 of the rebuild and we feel as far away from relevancy as ever.

at this point in the process JB should absolutely be the starter. he was starter last year to end the season, we got rid of the guy ahead of him,...and since we havent even had camp nobody has had an opportunity to take his job.
so yeah...JB is the starter.

doesnt mean that will be true in september.

give him a bump of 10-15M over his current contract - you don't do it cuz he is going to win, you do it so McBride/Wilson don't get pissed because they had career years with JB despite how much the team sucked. Hopefully Beck can start playing when they are 1-6 and see if he sinks or swims before going into what could be a good QB draft next year

I’m not a contract expert. But could we give Jacoby an incentive laden contract? Including wins among other incentives?
They could offer him one, but he doesn’t have to accept it. I don’t know if the NFL allows incentives around wins, tbh.

Why are the Cards doing this? It does nothing to develop the qbs, and they could use that to improve another area of the team. A running game is a qbs best friend; so I get the Love pick; but Brissett will tie starter money in on a holdout and they'll placate him? Garbage time production needs to get the heck outta town.

We painted ourselves into a corner with no concrete plan to replace K1. Typical Birdgang. If I'm the FO, I'm giving him a pennies on the dollar raise and dare him to refuse it.

Eh, maybe. Only to impact the cap this season, though. Giving him even a modest raise for next year would be dumb. So I expect Monti to do it.
Yeah pay him for this year, that's reasonable. He's the obvious starter. They can play games and say there is a competition but everyone knows he's the presumed starter.

You cant pay your starting QB less than a WR. Especially if you are trying to change the perception that we are a terrible organization.

Hopefully more incentive based but we suck at making contracts.

Sure you can. I bet Justin Jefferson makes more than the entire QB room in Minny.

I’d be surprised if Brissett is expecting Malik Willis or Justin Fields money; I bet you can get him at $12 million guaranteed for performance and injury.

The only way that this makes sense is if they are trying to send some sort of message to other free agents to say 'The Cards aren't that cheap...' Otherwise I'm with you and it makes no sense. Giving a raise to a QB that went 1-11 is mindblowing to me.

JB is 3rd on order of signing rookies, extending a couple of young guys and then reworking JB's contact.
