Here is the thing...

LAst year - Ashton Jeanty
2023 - Bijan and Jamyr
2022 - Breece Hall / Ken Walker
2020 - J Taylor
2019 - Josh Jacobs
2018 - Saquon
2017 - CMC
2016 - Zeke and King Henry

None of that is counting Achane, James Cook, and some other starters.

Seems like there are consistently special RBs available in the draft. I'd argue that makes Love less of a "special" player.
The other argument you can make is backs that are picked high usually don't bust.

Unless you’re picked by Arizona, who has a long history of bust, high drafted running backs
Not so sure: Trippi RB/QB (1945), Matson (1952), Metcalf (1973), Anderson (1979), Centers, FB (1990), Hearst ((1993), and maybe Thomas Jones (2000), who had 5 thousand yard seasons in a row though not with the Cards. That’s a pretty good set considering you don’t draft one every year. Had he not been injured you might add 3rd rounder Johnson (2015) to the list. Even Beanie Wells had a 1000 yd season before injuries ended his career. E

Thomas Jones, Garrison Hearst and Beanie Wells were all busts in AZ. Don’t care what they did elsewhere or after being gone.

I would disagree with this. People are complaining about a lack of top EDGE players this year, top DL players, and top offensive tackles. No one views Carnell Tate as a "special" player.

People reference OTs prospects aren't like Joe Thomas who is retired but an example used. There is no Myles Garrett in this class. The closest thing to Micah Parsons. Who was the last great DL prospect? Will Anderson was considered a top EDGE player in 2023 (probably the most recent best prospect) but I don't know how many people classified his as a special prospect. Maybe Andrew Thomas or Sewell at OT but Sewell was critiqued for being shorter. Aiden Hutchinson was knocked for his short arms. Travon Walker for his lack of production. Jalen Carter had off field issues.

In contrast, people talk about Love like he is a unique RB prospect which he just isn't. Sure Love can catch a football, but most RBs who are selected in round 1 have that ability. It is why they are selected in the first round. He has breakaway speed...ok...so do a lot of first round RBs.

Again, it's not that he is not talented, it's just when you reference draft history, his skill set seems to consistently be present year after year in contrast to other positions.
That is a perfectly rational position Chop.
There is a saying in sales...a truth in fact..
"People will always pay more for what they want than they will for what they need"

The underlying psychology is deep. But simple in the end.
I, and others who want to draft Love,...want that feeling I get when our RB jukes, side steps, slips, spins, barrels, and leaps ...and each move has the potential to get him loose.
Hell, I even want that "aaaah maaaaaann" disappointment when the razzle dazzle just isn't enough.......this time

And a side note...I am an autistic person...it's rare for us to be athletic. .. but, I can't deny that Love being autistic as well has a strong influence on me wanting him on our squad... it would be nice to see one of us hit big in pro sports......
But I also know the autistic mind. I know Love sees the game differently from other players.... that difference could very well lead him to greatness on the field...will it? Probably not...picking the negative stance is definitely the easier choice...
But he could...and "IF" he does. I would like to see the redbird on his helmet as he does it..

Might be smarter to trade back a few times and draft big Max around 18 or 20.

But we have made the "smart" pick...over...and over....and over....
And it hasn't gotten us crap.
One trip to the dance with a rebel dinosaur coach and a QB with a chip on his shoulder...and our "Window" slammed shut.
So screw it.. I'm a fan. Fans want to have fun. Fans like sexy exciting picks...total flip in philosophy for me. We suck. We always suck. That's not going to change. So fudge it... I want to have fun while we suck
Our next SB window will still come around in 2048 or so no matter who we pick.
It's like getting a Pity Drop in a video game... the universe grants us a Pity Window of 1 or 2 years every 25 years or so...it will come back around on schedule no matter who we draft tomorrow.

So I just want to have some excitement while we wait.

I’m not comparing history for a sports team that’s 15+ years ago. Different owner(kinda) different GM

He was absolutely a bust for the Jets can’t even be argued
Or, the jets are a terrible team just like we are and can't support or develop talent.

We have absolutely wasted MHJ so far based on the idiocy of the previous regime.

The regime isn’t making MHJ run lazy routes, drop passes, or get concussions….

I don’t consider injured players a bust. Wells had broken 1000 yds then was injured early in the next season and his career was over. It was a draft problem that hurt Jones & Hearst, it was coaching. Both were good picks.

I feel the only reason why anyone in the NFL wants us to take Love, including Michael Bidwill, is so they can come up with marketing that calls our new trio of running backs: Jeremyiah ,Ty and James Connor, “Love and Thunder. “

You know they will put up a street sign in front of the nest with a arrow pointing toward the love shack

People treating the RB position like they are kickers.

Love seems to be a generational player based on most comps. You don’t let talent like that slip through your fingers if you can draft it.

What I really like about Love is his ability to be as good a receiver as a RB. Reminds me a lot of LT, dual threat line him up then motion him out, matchup nightmare. Also his character and work ethic is as good as anyone’s. If he becomes the face of the franchise then he sets the tone and standard.

A lot to like about him in a draft full of only decent to good starters

it says a lot about the Jets as they have have more than 1 bust. The Cards play at the same end of the pool as the Jets. You still have to pick the BPA even tho they could fail due to BEING ONE OF THE WORST ORGANIZATIONS IN THE NFL

Cards and Jets are not allowed in the pool. They have to stay in the splash pad area and next to the soiled diaper rinse station.

how old are you??
Diaper rinse station?? Dude,...Pampers came out around 1972...and by 1982, not a single mom in America was washing out diapers any more.

I remember, hell, my mom was bitter, lol...she would full on hate on those "Lazy ass young floozies" for using Pampers instead of cloth diapers like a good mother, lol.

I'm old enough to no longer be allowed in the pool and have to stay next to the diaper rinse station . . . er, Depends if I'm having a good day.

The high point of the day for the elderly is having a bowel movement. It is a really special day if you are sitting on the commode when it happens.

How old are you? When was the last time you took a small child or infant to a public pool? Swim diapers---not Pampers---are required. Check with your Health Department and your Mother.
