I dare the Cards to start a rookie QB coming out of this draft.

It will be a colossal failure.

They made this bed with JB.
Started him over a true franchise QB, released franchise QB, put JBs pic in the practice facility like he’s somebody, didn’t sign an actual starter, and now want to play games with the dude.

The Cards are so terribly run.
I mean I agree Jacoby is the best QB we are going to get this season and most likely one we draft will suck - but if next years draft has a much better batch of QB's, is it a horrible thing to do to suck this season?

I'm laughing because of the comparison of Leinart, who actually showed promise, and HOF Warner's competition to this years "competition" between Brissett and Minshew.
Only the Cardinals. Great to be a Cards fan these days.
OMG, I did not mean to imply any such comparison between QB's. Just the fact we rotated QB's during several games until they landed on Warner. I know I go by "some dumb guy" but not "some stupid guy"...LOL

Only the Cards could be extorted by a 1-11 career back up QB after cutting a real QB for more money.

MO should have been fired with JG.

Amazing

We are approaching the Derek Anderson phase of history.

Cut Leinart a week before the season and roll the dice.

Cut JB right before the season and roll the dice with Minshew.

We are so fudged.
They don’t need to cut Brissett. He’s under contract. What’s he going to do? Sit out? He’s a journeyman backup.

That "real QB" extorted them for a lot more money.

And in real games that we needed he....

LOL

The crap show after K1 has been released let’s me know exactly who is to blame for inability to get this pathetic franchise where it needed to be.

K1 is gone guys and went to exactly where I told you he would go months ago. He is in a million times better situation and will probably be in the playoffs and possibly the NFC Championship.

Meanwhile this putrid organization continues to step on its manhood every chance they get.

This is the worst offseason in Cards history and it’s not close.

No, but it is a different role than they signed him for so he is asking for more. I could absolutely be wrong, but I don't think Brissett is asking for a huge dollar amount. He is 30+ and took a ton of hits last year. I don't think he is being unreasonable until further info shows he is.

It's funny but how many people on this board would take a greater role with their company, which increases responsibilities, risks to personal health, and role without asking for a corresponding pay increase?

Especially after he already did that for 75% of the season last year without an increase in pay.
Can’t compare sports with any other common employment imo. Too different of beasts. And I also know many people who would take the prestige, power and perception of a promotion without the pay.

I'm honestly shocked at how mad some people are about this. Throwing him a bit of extra money when he's now likely going to have to stand in for the majority of a long season getting hit isn't a bad thing at all.

As was said, his role is being elevated. He's at risk of major injury. I'd also want more money to have to deal with this ****show for another year of my life.

If my job said "this is going to be a rough year with a skeleton crew and new leadership, we're going to need you to step up and work longer and harder," my answer would be "**** you, pay me." (I'd probably just leave in the first place, but that's not really doable in the NFL if you want to work again.)
Who is asking him to work longer? I’ve always read that the best backups prepare as if they’re starting.

Uh, by implying he's the starter, that's basically asking him to work longer and put his body on the line. Yes, the best backups prepare that way, but he's no longer the break glass in case of emergency option. Preparing week to week isn't the same as knowing you're likely play as many games as you can and put your body on the line.

Honestly, it felt like some people were really bothered by it.

Who is upset with JB?

He is doing exactly what he should.

This is a total embarrassment for the Cardinals on multiple levels. Everyone should be mad at them for once again showing the entire football universe they have zero idea how to run this team. If I was an agent I wouldn't let a single player come here. If I was a coach I would never accept a job here and if I am a GM I would always take advantage of these clowns.

Agreed! They said he was the starter so he requested starter money. Sure he would like a raise but more than anything, he wants guaranteed money.
They actually have been dancing around the off-season and intentionally refusing to name a starter which makes me feel they are drafting a QB this year. Then they will trade JB, and go with the draft pick plus GM as his backup.

They leaked that JB was the starter the same day they botched signing Willis and Jimmy G.

Monti is so dumb.

Clown take. Players have to get as much coin as they can out of their career.

Brissett is likely the starting QB and deserves to be paid like one. This clown organization should have figured that out before it became an issue.
Curious your take on this: say brissett was injured in offseason. Minshew goes into season as starter. Should he get a raise? What if minshew injured or retired too? Hold true for Slovis?

Ok, I've had a couple of beers so I'm not going to argue but if I remember right, ranking goes from 1 being best to 32 or more being not as "best"...you just stated that Brissett was ranked BETTER than Murray, who makes significantly more money than Brissett. So, ergo...JB deserves a little bit more in his paycheck. If everyone is so down on JB, fine, cut him. Let's role with Mr. Mustachio.....
I get it, it sucks. But to chastise JB for wanting a little more money is just ludicrous. We're arguing over nickels in NFL money. Just once I'd love to see some posts showing hope for the upcoming season. Nobody knows what will happen until we see the cards on the field....Instead of complaining about JB, offer a solution! Oh, that's right, cut him!
I may have missed it, is anyone angry at Brisset? Or just discussing the situation?

It doesn't surprise me if he's supposed to start he should be paid more but if he's asking for THAT much then yes it's absolute vintage Cards, snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Get out from under Kylers contract(sort of) and immediately have to massively overpay for a guy who was 1-11 as a starter last year.

I think we all know this story, we'll overpay, not what he wants but we'll overpay. And we'll still lose games, we'll give him a guarantee, then the RT we draft way too early will miss a block, JB will get destroyed and miss the rest of the season. The QB will be Minshew, who will be decent but not great. Eventually we'll start the QB we gave up valuable picks to move up to draft, Ty Simpson, and he'll be terrible.
