40 mill would be a record-setting LT contract. No way he is the top LT in the game.
That's not how these new contracts work. You only need to be hovering around the top 10 at times to get a 'record breaking deal.' Records are broken every year with the way salary cap increases each year.

He might be at some point, but how much are you going to pay a guy that realistically has had half of a good season? (Especially when you've already burned a top 5 pick on MHJ)

Do people here really believe that Wilson is worth 25-30M per season?

If he shows that this year, then fine, either reward him with an extension or tag him.
I don't. I'd let him walk for comp picks that'd we won't see because we don't usually have good players or a GM start enough to acquire them. I wouldn't pay that amount for at best their 3rd option on offense.

Yeah, I'm willing to wait to see him prove it again - if he does, then either tag him or pay him.

in 2015 Calvin Johnson...Megatron himself, was the only NFL WR making 20mil per year...the next guy was A.J. Green at 14.7mil a year.

Today...the top 24 make over 20mil per year...with number 25 being 18mil

Justin Jefferson is at 35mil...Jamarr Chase, 40mil per year...

every WR in the top 10 is over 30mil per year.

and you know since Jamarr topped 40,...the next WR to get a contract wants more...thats just how the nfl rolls...you gotta stay in the headlines even if its for giving completely stupid contracts.

Its not really stupid contracts. Salary cap in 2015 was $143m. Salary cap in 2026 is $301m.

$20m in 2015 and $40m in 2026 both represent about 13-14% of the cap.

According to who? I know you don't put stock in PFF.
He was a much better player last year than his rookie year and is only going to get better.
Watching the games?

He had the fewest starts as a pro, and people were actively speculating he had an undisclosed injury.
