I don’t understand Monti. Shouldn't we be publicly in love with Love?

I mean, unless he wants someone specific at 3 and is locked in to that person, which I doubt, why wouldn't you be dropping hints on hints on hints that you would be taking Love if he is there? Like, say things like "we are fixing our RB room, but it isn't there yet" or "love is super intriguing, would be interesting in this new offense" or "we will be taking the best player available, and we know who that is."

Just gamesmanship it a bit. If you don't want him, that's trade bait. Tennessee wants him, and they don't want NO or the chiefs jumping them. You could get a trade down bidding war.

But we are silent, full a RB room, and just are like, eh, we tanking yall.

Maybe I'm just dumb but can't they just throw a damn feint or two out there?

Yes. He's clearly the best player there.

I want to say that nobody in the RB room except Allgier stops us taking Love because you can trade/cut both Conner and Benson for very little cost.

However, I don't see the logic in making the moves he has if he has high interest in Love. The best I can argue if that he wants to keep his options open and not telegraph his intended pick.

But all signs are pointing to us drafting a tackle at #3 that would go #15 in most other drafts.

Your single mistake is attempting to see the logic in Monti's moves. There is nothing, and I mean nothing, that's been done to prevent drafting Love. JC, Benson and Bam are easily cut, without costing much $$$. Allgeier and Love together would be a dynamic RB room, IMO. Cut JC and roll with Benson as #3 and Bam on the PS available to move up on Sundays. That's a pretty darn good RB room.

Bam is there as a camp body which is why I didn't mention him.

JC and Benson are more apparent blockers because if you have any interest in Love at all it's hard to make sense of the moves he made. I agree there's no real block to drafting Love and those 2 guys can be moved, that's what I said. I just doubt that is the way Monti is looking at it.

But technically it's still very possible if you draft Love to trade Benson or Conner in camp when someones RB inevitably goes down hurt.

I think they might need Bam to return kicks. Does Benson play ST? I forgot.

We need talent, period. I would actually be excited with Love. I know it's not the most urgent need, but a back who could man that position for the next 6-8 years, take pressure off the QB, as well as bring excitement to the fanbase? Sign me up! Monti is likely to F this draft up, so at this point getting a player who will likely last longer with the Cardinals than he will is a good deal to me.

Love is a fine player, but the Cards aren’t in position to put that kind of money into an RB. They might have to take on a big QB salary via FA or trade. They’ve got to resolve that position before they take on luxuries. Until they get a passing game, play action is just a theory.

I went into the Draft, hoping/hoping/hoping that we would draft Love, but considering how many RB's we have signed, I'm putting that possibility in the very long shot category. Guessing we'll go Edge or OL. We end up with a lot of good RB's and miss out on a VG/great one. JMO.

They've signed one running back. They've let one running back go. How many did you think they had signed?

I said basically the same thing in another thread. We should be acting like he could be our pick to flush out anyone who might want to trade up for him.
