He was under Gannon for 5 years right running Gannon's defense right? Maybe now he does have some of his own ideas.I’m sure he will bring fresh new ideas to the unit and schemes.

I'm just trying to be optimistic here. It's been a rough road being a Cardinals fan since 1988 and a Arizona Wildcat s fan since 1980.Dear lord
The dude has been horrendous.
Zero reason to act like he was held back by JG.
I’m sorry brother.I'm just trying to be optimistic here. It's been a rough road being a Cardinals fan since 1988 and an Arizona Wildcat s fan since 1980.
He was hamstrung by INJURIES! Did you not watch the games when they were forced to play backups at key positions all year due to injuries? This isn’t rocket science.Imma head for the Hopium den and believe Rallis was hamstrung by his head coach's views on defense. What else do we have except to be miserable? And thats no fun.
The 49ers made the NFC Championship game with more injuries to impact starters on the defense. He was hamstrung by INJURIES! Did you not watch the games when they were forced to play backups at key positions all year due to injuries? This isn’t rocket science.
Common man.... I think you are hand picking a player? Nichols wasn't good the year before.Yes but how many of these are starters/primary backups/impact players?
We didn’t go 3-14 because Bilal Nichols missed 12 games.
Honestly when that Mike is Mack Wilson the step down to replacement level isn’t the same as if you were replacing Fred Warner. If this defense is so fragile it can’t weather losing Mack Wilson the person to blame is the guy designing the defense.Common man.... I think you are hand picking a player? Nichols wasn't good the year before.
If you take the starting Mike Backer away from most defenses, you are already behind. Add a rookie to replace him and forget about it. Plus the defensive backs were all very young and had to play starting roles.
If we had experienced leadership in the CB room, we may have been okay with one rookie or a 2nd year guy. But to have 3 young guys trying to figure it out on the fly, common!
I'm not advocating for Rallis but I am trying to be realistic. Let's call it what it was, desperation! We don't have a choice and will run it back with him and if he shows it, he'll be back in 2027. If not, we have an earlier draft pick and a new DC.
As a team, the Cardinals had more injuries than any team in the NFL. The Niners had a significantly healthier offense than the Cardinals and an offense led by a future HOF HC that kept their D off the field. When the Niners offense wasn’t putting up 30-40 points per game, their D struggled. And they had plenty of those games: once Purdy returned they put up games scoring 41, 26, 37, 48, and 42 points. Meanwhile, the Cardinals offense scored 20 or less points in their last 6 games. The 49ers made the NFC Championship game with more injuries to impact starters on the defense.
The 49ers had 5 season ending injuries. The Cardinals had 26. Its easier to replace Warner and Bosa with depth pieces than it is to replace your starters and depth pieces with practice squad players. The 49ers made the NFC Championship game with more injuries to impact starters on the defense.
It’s easier to replace Fred Warner than Starling Thomas V guys don’t know ballThe 49ers had 5 season ending injuries. The Cardinals had 26. Its easier to replace Warner and Bosa with depth pieces than it is to replace your starters and depth pieces with practice squad players.
Also, that 49ers defense last year was horrible, one of the worst in the league. They just had an offense capable of putting up 40+.
How did Rallis do against LaFleur/McVay in 2024? In the first game the defense gave up 10 points, in the second the defense gave up 13 points.
Why do you keep confusing us with facts? As a team, the Cardinals had more injuries than any team in the NFL. The Niners had a significantly healthier offense than the Cardinals and an offense led by a future HOF HC that kept their D off the field. That vaunted Niner D had some stinkers giving up 26, 23, 30, 26, 24, 42, 24, 27, and 38 points. Of those 9 games, they still won 5 of them. With as banged up as our offense was, we wouldn’t have won ANY of those games.
Been doing it for a long time making thousands. If I were a betting man I'd always bet against the Cardinals. Sorry ass organization with a sorry ass owner. More of the same from Hardy Drive.
Getting?getting weird now
All great ideas, but this staff is set. MB is not bringing in any consultants.Still depressed about Rallis-gate. To be fair, player development is probably mostly related to position coaches, but a DC is still responsible for putting the players in positions to be great. For example, why is Darius Robinson not being used at his best position?
The only thing that gives me just a bit of hope about the defense is speculating about who to bring in as a senior advisor. Because I think that is very important (not expecting it to happen, though) to do, like the Seahawks have Leslie Frazier, or Niners had Gus Bradley. It would obviously need to be a very experienced guy. If not, there is no point in hiring him.
I should mention that it would be in a role sort of similar to Hackett. Rallis would obviously be the playcaller, and a senior advisor would only be a sparring partner.
What about Ron Rivera? He would be my first choice. Maybe they discussed the option when they had him in for an interview?
Lovie Smith, anyone? He hasn't been in the NFL since 2022, but he was a good defensive mind back in the days.
Mike Pettine has a history with Matt LaFleur, and he has certainly coached some strong defenses.
Teryl Austin? Was just released from the Steelers-staff, and was a very successful coordinator earlier in his career. And has been with the Cards before.
How about Mike Zimmer? Horrible DC with the Cowboys in 2024, but has coordinated some very good defenses earlier.
Wink Martindale. Just because he interviewed.
I don’t know. I just need some hope for the defense, guys.
All great ideas, but this staff is set. MB is not bringing in any consultants.
where is this interview?did rallis blame gannon in the interview
there had to have been an exit interview - unless our process is outdated like everything elsewhere is this interview?
