That’s not on the DC… that’s on MO. He’s the one putting the players on the team. The team did not replace KW from the year before. Which was okay but they really didn’t go out and get his replacement for a true Mike backer. I’m pretty sure Wilson was converted to the Mike backer.Honestly when that Mike is Mack Wilson the step down to replacement level isn’t the same as if you were replacing Fred Warner. If this defense is so fragile it can’t weather losing Mack Wilson the person to blame is the guy designing the defense.
There were plenty of opportunities to add a veteran to the defensive backs room. Garrett Williams was a third-year veteran entering this season. What are you even on about?
Why would they listen to him? This is comforting

Great…we’re the NFC version of the Raiders. Sigh.xc_hide_links_from_guests_guests_error_hide_media
Seems like Kubiak is doing a similar thing in Las Vegas by promoting the old DL coach to DC and retaining a lot of the defensive staff.
Yeah, maybe ML is confused because of how good he felt every time he saw Rallis’s D when the Rams were shellacking us.I'm sure he was very impressed when the Rams offense was torching our defense this past season.![]()
Hey, that's better than NFC version of the Jets....isn't it? LOLGreat…we’re the NFC version of the Raiders.
Thinking, thinking.Hey, that's better than NFC version of the Jets....isn't it? LOL
And perhaps, some dumb guy, this is why we’re ranked all the way up to 31st in next year’s projections!Hey, that's better than NFC version of the Jets....isn't it? LOL
This is a way you stay in the good graces of the coaching fraternity. Find a lifeboat for as many of your subordinates as you can. These are protégés and friends; you try not to leave them hanging. This is comforting

End of week came and went. Now what? What difference does it make, as long as most of the coaches are on board by the end of this week? Better to be thorough and get the right people imo.
Still feel this way?I’d prefer we have one.
Yall would love me. All ILBs. Massive blitzing packages. No undersized players. Bringing Isaiah Simmons back and making him wear 48 again. You'll get nothing and like it! Ouchie is the new DC!
You think position coaches interviewing for roles didn’t do their homework? Weird take.Do I think, for example, the new wide receiver coach from Minnesota has watched Arizona Cardinals wide receiver tape? No, no, I do not.
Is he probably cramming a bunch of tape over the next few weeks? Yes, I would guess so. But does that qualify him to give an opinion without working with any of the players? Over the staff in the building that have worked with them for several years? No.
This idea that you have imagined that by hiring later we're missing out on some valuable nuggets of position coach contributions to the draft is, like most of your takes on here, complete nonsense.
Now I'm sure Mike will have a lot of input when he gets to the draft, and I'm sure Mike will take some feedback from coaches once they've had a bunch of time to get up to speed. But that is more likely to be a DC saying this is a scheme I want, I need a guy that can do this, I've watched the tape, and I can't see this guy on the roster at the moment. There's still two months to do that though, so I'm not sure what you think we're missing out on at the combine.
The Rams, and I'm sure a bunch of other teams now, don't even attend the combine at all. I'm sure all the staff will be in place by the time pro days come around. Even then, I would imagine that most position coaches won't attend pro days; they normally leave that to scouts and FO. I think you have a mistaken impression of how much coaches, especially position coaches and coordinators, contribute to the draft.
We largely had 8 starters for most of the season. In all honesty, how can anyone measure a coaches ability with 3rd and 4th stringers out there?
It just means they run it back with KM and JB now. We’re tanking without trying to tank![]()
So we are following the design of the raiders…greatxc_hide_links_from_guests_guests_error_hide_media

Model franchise and allSo we are following the design of the raiders…great
Not really, the Raiders are promoting an up and coming coach who interviewed for the job. We are retaining our failed DC who didn't interview with the new HC. Definitely not the same.So we are following the design of the raiders…great
Shoulda saidStill feel this way?
On the surface, I agree, but every team in the NFCW has lost coaches and will start over with the new coaches, so ergo...next year will thankfully be different and hopefully betterSad, everyone gets better but us.
