The Suns need to find a way to add some size inside.

Makes me wonder what the all time NBA single game FT disparity is. I would wager it's a pretty modern record and the Lakers, Celtics, Spurs, or Warriors are on the high end of it.

Okay, looked it up and sure enough it wasn't any of those teams. Instead, it was the Bulls in a 1970 game, when they shot 47 more FTs than their opponent, who was... the Suns.

The NBA refs have hated us a looonnng time. :D

I’m not saying we’re going screwed… I’m at the game, it doesn’t feel like it…

But a game with a 7-42 ft disparity is insane.

Make it 7-44.

The disparity is bad, but when we rarely drive and just stand around and upchuck threes like we did once we got up 30, the Suns deserve some blame of their own.

But they got a needed W. Unfortunately, they had to exert themselves much more than needed and now I’m worried they rest Book/Green/Williams and trot out a skeleton crew tomorrow against OKC… which just happens to be the first Suns game I’ll be attending live in person since Game 6 of the 2010 WCF.

That will be a big bummer if that’s the case.

So much this. The Mavs kept driving and we kept chucking from deep. Thankfully enough shots fell for the W.

I love Brooks. What he has done for us defensively goes without saying. His offense has been a surprise. Having said that he has really bad shot selection sometimes. Not to mention the ball “sticks” with him sometimes and the offense sputters way too often as a result.

Good to know it's not just our imagination running wild.

I think it was two seasons ago the referees were allowing physical play inside, especially in the playoffs, to the point it was almost brutal to watch. The guards and wings were getting all the foul calls outside.

Now the pendulum has swung, at least as far as the Suns are concerned. They can't seem to touch anyone inside.

Yeah, like I said, I didn't feel like we were being screwed, there are bad calls every game, we certainly started settling for terrible shots once we went up by 30.

But 44-7 is insane... I really hate the late whistle, so many tonight, we've already got the defensive board and are looking to attack and a foul call comes in. If it is a foul, call it when you see it, don't wait to see if the guy misses.

Anyway.

I hope you have a good time at the game, I gotta figure OKC is out for blood after our last meeting, but hopefully playing against a top team will bring us back into form, we certainly showed against the Pistons.

Tips around the arena... the value menu is legit good, especially the hot dogs. If you're a liquor guy, go premium, because the cost difference between Jim Beam and their most premium liquor is about 2 bucks, $17 vs $19. And the automatic timeout around the 8 minute mark is the best moment to take a piss or grab food or a drink, the lines are so short you might miss one play. Everyone else seems to wait for quarters to end.

Outside of a few plays I didn't think the calls were crazy, I think we got lazy with the huge lead and then got twitchy when it shrank.

But, I gotta wonder... what is the biggest free throw disparity a team has overcome in a victory? Tonight was 35... that is a HUGE number, and the Mavs still lost.

I would love if someone knows how to look up some games where it was worse and the team on the short end still won. It's gotta be some wild box scores.

Found this, I imagine someone else will do the legwork and we'll see more data tomorrow.

The Mavericks become the tenth team to lose a game with 35 or more free throw advantage. AZSports Kellan Olson reported that the differential is the highest in a game five seasons and becomes only the seventh time in the past 15 years.

Only 10 times... that is wild...

The second part perplexes me, are those margins just in general or have 7 of those 10 (all time) games happened in the last 15 years? That would be a gross condemnation of modern officiating.
