Well, maybe they could speed it up a little by hiring a guy from those teams. Could be Mike LaFleur or Klint Kubiak as a head coach, or it could be Robert Saleh or Chris Shula as the HC with an OC from one of those teams.

In my perfect scenario it would be Salah with Mike McDaniel or if he brought Klay Kubiak with him from San Francisco. Chris Shula is on staff with Nathan Scheelhaase who is considered a major offensive-minded talent, and Shula also has connections with Thomas Brown, who the Cardinals want to interview. I am not saying there is a big plan of combining those two, by the way.

I think my point is that you obviously need to start somewhere to create that system and infrastructure, and it just makes sense to me to start with a guy from within a successful team structure.
I’d have no problem with Kubiak (pointed him out a while back). Saleh probably makes more sense because he could get the defense up quicker where an offensive coach doesn’t even have a qb. Per say.

Jesse Minter defense gave up 30 pts against the Texans- couldn't stop the run or pass.
Huh?

It was 20 points, and the Chargers gave up 118 yards rushing and 244 passing (with two Ints).

Overall, the Chargers D was 9th (points) / 5th (yards) this season, and 1st / 11th last season - after taking over a team that was 24th / 28th the year before.

And if you mean last year in the playoffs vs. Houston, the Chargers' D still only gave up 24 points, as Houston scored a defensive TD and a defensive extra point return.

I don't mind Saleh or Vance. I think they both are detailed and get the most out of players. I also think they both took rough jobs their first go. Maybe they would do some things different with the experience they have gained since and could have solid staff choices.

It's just tough for me to get too high or low on most of the candidates.
VJ & Salah have one more shot at being a successful HC before they stop getting HC interviews. I doubt if they want that last opportunity to be with a knucklehead like Bidwill. The Bidwills have a long, long history of being predictably unpredictable.

We definitely are going the get the best of what’s left and only of that candidate even wants it. So yes it will probably be a lot like Gannon.
But rest assured he will be the guy we wanted all along.

I would also be fine with Kubiak. I am not sure if he could rival Shanahan and McVay, but at least he could get the most out of the offense, I think. Optimize Harrison, for example.

My biggest worry is his staff. Usually, assistant coaches come from the head coach’s own connections as with Wilks, Arians and Gannon, for example. Kingsbury is a bit different, since he came from the college ranks. I think the Cardinals have tried to go the route with young, talented coordinators without success, so I would like someone with more experience now.

It’s just that when I look at Kubiak’s career, I don’t see a lot of natural options. Joe Woods has been a DC many places, and has actually crossed paths with Kubiak with multiple teams. Some story with George Edwards and Jerry Gray, but any of those excites anyone? He worked with Steve Wilks in San Francisco. Anyone interested?

I don’t know. Options like Mike LaFleur, Robert Saleh, Anthony Weaver and others have much more obvious coordinator-candidates. That is not to say that Kubiak couldn’t be paired with someone he does not have a relationship with, but it is just not the norm.

No first time HC has...that's why it is their first time. lol

What I mean is, all of these have worse resumes than JG when we hired him. What do you see in any of them that makes you think "This guy will be better"?

What about LaFleur as HC & Scheelhaase as the OC?

I agree. The more time I’ve had to think of this I believe Saleh is the guy.
I think he could vastly improve the defense with the players already here.
I also think he would have a better selection of coaches. Finding a very good OC is imperative.

Optimizing MHJ can't come with impeding Wilson or knocking McBride back, though. That's the issue. There are two star receivers already...how do you add a third?
