My point was I believe their primary interest lies in a candidate that is still in the playoffs and the ones they've already interviewed are back-ups. At no point did I say they were good at this. :D
So far we've interviewed two candidates whose teams are still in the playoffs, Vance Joseph and Klint Kubiak. We interviewed them both on Saturday.

I think you're underestimating the size of these guys egos.

I think your underestimating the size of these guys brains.

Wilks career took a major hit after coming here. Kliff had to go back to college as an offensive assistant. JG will likely struggle to get a DC job this cycle.

With options on the table why would anyone pick the one with 3 teams in the top 4 in the NFC? And one with a huge question mark at QB?

I mean, this sounds good in theory however you’re talking about one of 32 jobs in the entire world one of the 32 most prestigious even if it is “just the Cardinals”

A job that if you take will set your family up for wealth far beyond what a typical coordinator makes(average of 1 million league wide) even on a cardinal HC salary of approx 7,000,000(league average)

And it’s still Arizona, which has a huge draw for climate affordability, etc.

There’s gonna be plenty of candidates more than willing to take the job. Sure not your Jim Harbaugh’s but finding a list of up and comers or re treads that’s willing to try to take on the job in this division isn’t gonna be short.

Sure, someone will take it, but that someone will be someone without any other options.

Why would you take this job, with 3 of the top 4 teams in the NFC and question marks at QB, if you had other teams interested in you?

Yep!!! The Bidwill family has been guilty of this for decades. But, you’ll never get most of the people on this board to agree with you. I agree though. Just more of the wash, rinse, repeat the Bidwills have shoved down my throat for the past 62 years. He promised us a different approach when he hired JG. He lied….AGAIN!

It would have made more sense to change Petzing and give JG one more year KNOWING the state of the division and the situation at QB.

Either JG turns it around, or we're picking high next year in a much deeper QB class (and generally better draft class). And with the situation with Kyler cleared up.

That's much more attractive for a candidate. Now we have the toughest division in football, a mess a QB and a poor candidate pool. We likely lock in a no hoper that they won't move on from for 3 years and then we burn it all down and start again.

I think every coach at this level thinks they can "fix" the Cardinals given the chance.
They may very well think that and know going in the organization is schizophrenic most of the time, but it is one of 32, for a lot more money than most were making as a coordinator, and if they get canned in a few years they still get paid. Most would sign up for that if offered

I am actually not frustrated that they have not brought him in. I think he would be a huge scoop as an offensive coordinator, but I am not a big fan of him as a head coach. A combination of him and Saleh has been my favorite from the start, and I still think it could be amazing.

Another thing I find interesting is that only the Raiders have brought Mike LaFleur in, other than the Cards. You could argue that they are a more interesting destination than Cardinals, but you could certainly also argue the other way. Obviously, several other teams can step in and interview him in the coming days.

It takes two to tango. We have zero knowledge if the Cards have inquired or not for some of these guys, since they are unemployed there isn't a team that needs to report it.

You are correct, but often it is their agents that break it to national insiders. It is obviously in their interest that their clients seem as attractive as possible.
