I’ve come to a sad conclusion.
All these top coaching candidates are not going to take a job here if they have an offer just about anywhere else.
Also the grim reality is that if we are the only option left there’s a good chance they’ll decide to stay put where they are.
Somebody will take the job and of course it will be the guy that was our #1 choice and the guy we always wanted.

Sad but true. Also doesn’t mean we can’t get a quality HC and the best coach in the hiring cycle.

I used to run the restaurants at Lambeau. Every morning I would walk up the ramp to go to work, say "morning coach (to McCarthy), and he would say...morning "big guy". I introduced myself no less than 15 times, and I still got "big guy". He's a good coach, but a HUGE D-Bag!

Pretty impressed with the job Saleh is doing with this MASH unit of a defense.
He would have to bring in a dynamite OC. But I wonder if he’d be willing to come here after working for another dysfunctional organization and in a division where the 3 other teams in this division are playing for a chance to win the conference championship.

Like it or not Matt Nagy checks the boxes.
He’s been a head coach.
He has a winning record with two bad qb’s 34-31.
He’s made the playoffs twice but was 0-2. However he would have won one but lost with the famous double doink missed fg as time expired.
He’s been working with Andy Reed for 3 years. I would think he had to learn something working with him.

I’m expecting a resounding no in response but why?

He struggled in Chicago, so I don’t see him succeeding here.

There ain't nobody worth anything taking a job in a division with 3 division rivals in the divisional round of the playoffs, and likely two of the teams in the NFC title game.

Why would anyone with any options take that on?

We're getting some no hoper like Vance or a has been like McCarthy. Heck, even Mccarthy would be a stretch.

I understand the JG hate, but I still think they should have waited a year and changed OC. Odds are instead of one year of JG you now get 3 years of VJ.

I don't want a coach that's scared of tough competition. I'm sure what you say applies to a number of possible coaches and if that's the case, keep their azzes out of AZ. If you have to wait until the rest of the teams in the division stink, to which your point that it's likely to be a while, then we may as well pass on the next half a decade of football.

That's not how it works though.

If you're a good candidate you have multiple teams after you. You generally get one shot with making the jump from coordinator to HC, why would anyone smart take the option with the worst chance of success?

I'd have to question the intelligence of anyone choosing the toughest division in football, with huge questions at QB, over a job without those obstacles. Both are major inputs in a decision.

Nagy would be a good get for this franchise in this division.

Because we're trending towards a Vance Joseph or Anthony Weaver type at the moment.

Mike LaFleur

I think that LaFleur gets too little love. He has become my second favorite after Saleh. He was brought into the NFL by Kyle Shanahan, and he followed Shanahan to Atlanta where he was part of the Falcons’ staff that went to the Super Bowl. Then Shanahan took him with him to San Francisco, and later he was handpicked by Sean McVay. Yes, there were the bad years with the Jets, but not only did he have to play four quarterbacks in his time there, he also had a winning record with Zach Wilson. I think his resume is quite impressive.
I would be very excited if they hired LaFleur. I would guess that Raheem Morris would be an attractive option for DC, and other than him, there are not a lot of obvious options from LaFleur's career until now. Jeff Ulbrich was the DC when LaFleur was with the Jets, and he will most likely follow Raheem Morris out in Atlanta. Maybe he would be an option. Both constellations would be very exciting, I think.

Because Nagy is a bad coach and the Bears fans couldn’t wait for him to leave?
