I am more considerate of staff choices now than I have been. In retrospect, a really smart choice of Mike McDonald was brining in Leslie Frazier as an Asst HC. Bringing in that wealth of knowledge to help you navigate your first HC gig was a really smart plan.

Wiz and Arians weren’t big swings though. They were dudes that really were low profile hires and really Arians was the only one that worked out.

Wiz was carried by Warner and no one will ever convince me different.
Todd Haley has entered the carried Wiz chat. He's the one who really turned the offense around, with Warner's help on the field. Haley wasn't afraid to get in the face of his stars and push them hard.

I am the least racist person you will ever meet. The remark is a reaction to the insincere way this organization works.
In fact I will say 75% of the interviews we conduct can be construed as insincere. It also is a rule put into place by the NFL to make owners play the game. It’s a way to avoid lawsuits.

Poll the site and see how many here REALLY believe Joseph’s has a chance to be our next head coach. The are a number of reasons he won’t be least of all because he’s black. He’s been here before. He was fired. We didn’t like him then and I doubt we’d be thrilled to have him back.

I understand your response but I ask that you consider I’m not judging Joseph’s , color, coaching ability or the man. If it wasn’t Joseph’s it would HAVE been somebody else.
Bidwill seems to really like Joseph and I remember hearing how well regarded he was in the Cardinals organization as a whole.

The Cards have some good pieces, but no big name coach will coach here; other than maybe John Harbaugh. If he wants to get a challenge and show everyone; I'd welcome it. It was mistake by Baltimore...they were too trigger happy...let's rewrite history. JH would change Cards football forever. MB would also grow as an owner too knowing everything will get handled. They'll take the Alabama quarterback third overall, and OL will come play for JH.

He won’t be able to overcome the culture here.

We need a strong personality in the coaching spot that tells the idiots at the top to get out of the way and let me do what I know.

Nagy is a JAG Coach.

I’ve said this before: you have to have a strong GM, QB, or HC to succeed. For sustained success you need two or three. I agree that Nagy isn’t really one, but he says he’s gotten better.

Some of this is to also get a feel for potential OCs. If you are interviewing Vance, and you think there is a chance he wants to bring Webb with him to run the offense, you want to be familar with Webb if you can.

Yup. Al Davis used to use the hiring process to survey the league for opinions about the roster. Especially to hear candid talk about Kyler, MHJ, and the offensive line. Maybe everyone will tell you what they hope you want to hear, but you might hear opinions you don’t expect.

works for the Raiders

Worked for San Fran and Denver. Seems to be working okay with Carolina (tbd).

K9, this is a rule put into by the good old boys club and their lawyers.
Vance Joseph is an insincere interview. He’s not coming here. If it wasn’t Saleh it would be a bit different. I would construe his interview as sincere and not just trying to conform to rules.

My comment about Joseph was all about how this organization operates.
Fair concern both ways. Weaver is black and he’d be a great choice.

I tiptoed into this earlier, so as the ignorant new guy I'll do it again. Do we really care what color the coach's skin is as long as he (assumption since that might be the next consideration) is a good coach and can help this franchise win? Seriously, why are we dancing around this? I don't care if the coach is purple. If he can turn this thing around, I'm all for it. I'm only here for football/Cards talk, not PC stuff. Sorry, not trying to be difficult.
And again, no thanks on Dante Moore (even with Lanning) or Simpson.
