Jim Schwartz
Almost all of the top defenses in the NFL come from the Schwartz-concepts and philosophies. Unless he replaces Stefanski in Cleveland, he should be available.
Robert Saleh
He is my favorite. I am not sure exactly why, but I have always thought of him as an impressive leader. Even when he was with the Jets, I thought he did a good job. Actually, his best selling point might be what has happened to the Jets after he left.
Klint Kubiak
He is obviously a very bright coach. I am not a fan of his running game, but his fingerprints on a great offense is undeniable.
Mike LaFleur
I think that LaFleur gets too little love. He has become my second favorite after Saleh. He was brought into the NFL by Kyle Shanahan, and he followed Shanahan to Atlanta where he was part of the Falcons’ staff that went to the Super Bowl. Then Shanahan took him with him to San Francisco, and later he was handpicked by Sean McVay. Yes, there were the bad years with the Jets, but not only did he have to play four quarterbacks in his time there, he also had a winning record with Zach Wilson. I think his resume is quite impressive.
Matt Burke
Since he took over playcalling for the Texans’ defense in the beginning of this season with his Schwartz-defense, they have been absolutely fantastic. He was the defensive line-coach in Arizona in 2022, but was taken away by the Texans. Maybe Bidwill really liked him.
Brian Flores
I have always been impressed with Flores. From declining the owners wish in Miami, to actually making Miami competitive instead, and later his defensive playcalling. I also think that his coaching approach reminds me a bit of Bruce Arians. I still haven’t understood why anyone argues that Bidwill would not want Flores because of the legal complaint, when Bidwill scheduled two job interviews with Flores after the lawsuit. It makes no sense to me that it very often comes up in posts.
By the way, do you remember that Bidwill also brought in Flores for a job interview in 2018 before hiring Steve Wilks? I remember that Bidwill and Keim were very impressed by Flores, but in the end deemed him too inexperienced (he had not even been a coordinator at that point). Bidwill clearly likes him.
Jesse Minter
Bidwill and Ossenfort have seen firsthand in-division how Mike McDonald has done wonders with the Seahawks. Minter has taken almost the exact same route in coaching, and supposedly they are also quite alike as people.
David Shaw
I don’t have any explanation behind this choice other than I think it would be interesting (thank you to the poster who brought him up. I am sorry that I have forgotten who).
P.S. The rumors are that Matt LeFleur might be in danger in Green Bay. If he is let go, I think that Bidwill will offer him everything, and I would like it. I think he could rival McVay and Shanahan as great offensive minds.
