yea but what is the actual % of losing coaches going on to succeed as HC elsewhere? I know it's pretty damn low. Pete Carroll? There are some older examples like Mike Shanahan. But honestly not many. I'd rather not risk a losing coach with a boring offense who comes from a losing organization right back into another one.
I have to think that the Cardinals would be close to last on Stefanski's list as well, after dealing for so long with another dysfunctional organization.

Did some research on Klayton Adams and came up with a few guys he might be able to bring along. Frank Reich OC, Matt Eberflus DC and Bubba Ventrone ST. This is just based off of staffs he has coached for and with, and they seem to be available.

This is not an endorsement just an observation.

We're so far down on his list he'd take an OC job rather than our HC job if those were his only options lol. Whatever coach we hire will have to be very desperate to work for MB.

Desperate or desperately want to prove others wrong. The small number of available HC positions may drive him our way.

Blows my mind that Atlanta fired Morris. They had some HUGE wins, they had a lot of injuries, they had some bizarre losses.

I know it is hard to jazz yourself up about a guy who just got the axe, but Morris is a lot more appealing to me than a lot of the names floating about for us.

Interview question: "If you were hired as the Cardinals' head coach, what day of the week would you schedule your weekly game tape review sessions with the owner?"

Jim Schwartz

Almost all of the top defenses in the NFL come from the Schwartz-concepts and philosophies. Unless he replaces Stefanski in Cleveland, he should be available.

Robert Saleh

He is my favorite. I am not sure exactly why, but I have always thought of him as an impressive leader. Even when he was with the Jets, I thought he did a good job. Actually, his best selling point might be what has happened to the Jets after he left.

Klint Kubiak

He is obviously a very bright coach. I am not a fan of his running game, but his fingerprints on a great offense is undeniable.

Mike LaFleur

I think that LaFleur gets too little love. He has become my second favorite after Saleh. He was brought into the NFL by Kyle Shanahan, and he followed Shanahan to Atlanta where he was part of the Falcons’ staff that went to the Super Bowl. Then Shanahan took him with him to San Francisco, and later he was handpicked by Sean McVay. Yes, there were the bad years with the Jets, but not only did he have to play four quarterbacks in his time there, he also had a winning record with Zach Wilson. I think his resume is quite impressive.

Matt Burke

Since he took over playcalling for the Texans’ defense in the beginning of this season with his Schwartz-defense, they have been absolutely fantastic. He was the defensive line-coach in Arizona in 2022, but was taken away by the Texans. Maybe Bidwill really liked him.

Brian Flores

I have always been impressed with Flores. From declining the owners wish in Miami, to actually making Miami competitive instead, and later his defensive playcalling. I also think that his coaching approach reminds me a bit of Bruce Arians. I still haven’t understood why anyone argues that Bidwill would not want Flores because of the legal complaint, when Bidwill scheduled two job interviews with Flores after the lawsuit. It makes no sense to me that it very often comes up in posts.

By the way, do you remember that Bidwill also brought in Flores for a job interview in 2018 before hiring Steve Wilks? I remember that Bidwill and Keim were very impressed by Flores, but in the end deemed him too inexperienced (he had not even been a coordinator at that point). Bidwill clearly likes him.

Jesse Minter

Bidwill and Ossenfort have seen firsthand in-division how Mike McDonald has done wonders with the Seahawks. Minter has taken almost the exact same route in coaching, and supposedly they are also quite alike as people.

David Shaw

I don’t have any explanation behind this choice other than I think it would be interesting (thank you to the poster who brought him up. I am sorry that I have forgotten who).

P.S. The rumors are that Matt LeFleur might be in danger in Green Bay. If he is let go, I think that Bidwill will offer him everything, and I would like it. I think he could rival McVay and Shanahan as great offensive minds.

So we hire Mike LaFleur & MB decides that our QB of the future is Zach Wilson lol, I could actually see Bidwill doing this.

I don't get the Gruden love at all. He didn't win crap without Dungy's players and the Raiders were an absolute dumpster fire of a roster he put together, not to mention he'll never be in the NFL again with the way he left the Raiders.

This is the worst job in the cycle. Our division is brutal and we have no QB. I think we have the best roster of all the available jobs, but the division and QB situation are huge deals.

There ain't no hotshot up and comer OC coming here or some big name. This has retread or no hoper written all over it. Whatever you think of Gannon this was a terrible time to make a change.

We have an owner that's cheap & clueless so does it really matter when he fired JG lol? A high school coach could stand there with his arms folded, say nothing like Gannon & probably do just as good lol. Do you have any faith in MB making this hire? So I ask you again, does it really matter when he fired JG?

FWIW, I don’t think the division competition matters as much to candidates, in part because you expect the composition of the division to evolve every year.

But I think the QB and ownership situations are huge deals for any candidate with options, including the willingness of ownership to pay for quality assistants and coordinators.

Being tied to Monti will also be a factor for a competitive hire.
