new year's day game

#1 indiana vs #9 alabama

i think we can all agree we legit might be drafting one of these qbs - it will come down to more than who wins - individual performance and draft position will be at play

im on record as a mendoza guy but if simpson shows out and we can get him - that's where i can see him sitting behind and learning from brissett

Cards aren't drafting a first round QB. Book it.
Not all first round QBs are automatic NFL studs.

The best QB to ever play here - Kurt Warner, who took us to the Super Bowl - went undrafted.

Brock Purdy was Mr. Irrelevant.

Tom Brady was a 6th round pick.

The list goes on and on.

We either need to draft much better or bring in a free agent vet.

Does anyone really feel comfortable in our ability to draft a QBOTF?

That's a good argument to draft a quarterback later in the draft.

Fix the offensive line first.

im not trying to draft and count on a late round qb because of purdy and brady and whoever else is on that list(?) how did tune work out

i think the cards are in the unique fortunate position of getting to these two square off - strike while/if the iron is hot on some better odds

Yes, but you do not need first round talent to do that. Many of the top lines in the NFL are made up of mid round, late round, or undrafted players.

Yes, there are different ways to attack the problem.

In the NBA I've always been a strong proponent of draft the BPA regardless of position. However, I don't trust the Cardinals current front office to do this throughout the draft.

Moore, Mendoza and Simpson. Not sure Simpson is ready for NFL.

The other two are NFL starters for years to come.

I will probably get ratio’d for saying this, but I feel it was a bad game to evaluate Simpson. He was overwhelmed by a truly dominant pass rush and in every replay his receivers were not getting open.

Not sure he’s the guy, but it didn’t diminish him as a prospect for me. He may come into the league with the “can’t win the big game” moniker though.

Alabama was overmatched. They have a terrible coach. Their personnel is much weaker than IU. That said, not a good showcase for Simpson. I doubt it impacts whether he stays or goes. No reason to suspect Bama will be better next year. They might even be worse. If I were him I’d go. Moore didn’t have a great game either though they won easily.

If he stays in college, he's likely transferring. Bama would be idiots to not start Mack next year even if Simpson would return. Hell, maybe he transfers to Indiana and Cignetti wins with him.
