I think he would do better there. He'd be much better than McCarthy and KOC would rehab him somewhat. He'd never be great, but he'd be a bridge.
their OL is in much better shape than anything he has played behind in AZ (think about that for a moment...) WR better than any post Hop / Kirk / AJ Green trio.

and I think KOC would tailor the offense to Murray vs Petzing asking Murray to play in his system

How about this:

Would you trade Kyler + (lets say) a 3rd to Minnesota for JJ McCarthy?

[I throw in draft comp going to Minn because lets be honest, if it were just straight up, its 100% yes]

Minn gets a guy more on their timeline

AZ gets a guy thats a young reclamation project on mechanics

Switch out McCarthy for a 4th rounder.

Minnesota would laugh at you.

Hell to the no. I realize he missed last year with an injury and he's technically a rookie but Minnesota has as QB friendly an offense as there is in the NFL and has good WR's a good TE, a good run game. And he's been awful. 20 sacks in 159 attempts. 6 Td's 10 picks. the only thing he's doing well is running.

I'm sure he'll get better but the fact that people are even speculating the vikings may be lying about his concussion to excuse benching him for a UDFA rookie, and I believe he has a concussion, tells you how bad he's been.

Yeah...I don't think Minnesota would take this deal.

McCarthy is worse than Rosen by every metric imaginable, he's 851/852 in QB EPA since 2000. If someone offered a day 2 pick for him I think they'd be over the moon.

I definitely dont want him.

And he's got Jefferson and now Addison to throw to. Josh was throwing to guys we picked up off the street by the end of his rookie year.

I don't think people grasp how bad he's been.

he had that one good half against the Bears but otherwise god awful

Which is fine and true but the Vikes almost certainly would rather give up McCarthy and a 4th for Mac Jones than pay Kyler $50 million.

I'm hoping the teams that are unsure about their young qbs would consider bringing in a vet like Murray to compete just like how Indy brought in Jones to compete with Richardson. As of right now Minny, Carolina, N.O. and Atl would be potential candidates.

Will Penix ever play a full season?

College and Pro, he didn't finish 5 of his 8 seasons.

Why would fans of Big Red want to trade one cancer for another? I would prefer an open tryout of fans at a game. At least that person would have no track record of failure. The Big Red have not developed a QB acquired through the draft since Neil Lomax of St. Louis Cardinals. The Big Red developed undrafted FA Jim Hart before that who has more passing yards and TD passes then rival Roger Staubach. Nada development in AZ. The Big Red was known while in St. Louis as a QB rich team.

Sure although my hunch is if that call was made the 49ers would ask Shanahan and after he stopped laughing he'd say no seriously who are they offering us for Mac. I know they have a history of coaching up QB's but if O'Connell in 2 years couldn't get more out of JJ with their skill position guys, I see no reason to think the 49ers would want him.

I do think the Vikings have a better chance of getting jones than we do but that's largely IMO because Sf won't want to trade him to a team in their own division.

I'd rather cut Kyler than trade him for that no-talent nothingburger. I sure in the hell wouldn't add a pick to it. Maybe if they wanted to trade us McCarthy and a 2nd for Kyler, sure.
Think of it like the Jonathan Cooper deal. McCarthy is a throw-in to get Kyler off our books for realsies.

If you release McCarthy without playing a down you’re on the hook for like $7 million total. He’s basically Clayton Tune-level investment.

Yeah, but this is the Cards we're talking about. If they had traded for Osweiler, they would have thought they'd found "their guy."

Not for nothing, but this debacle is only exacerbated in my mind by the fact that the year after we selected KM, Joe Burrow fell into Cincy’s lap. A quote from Burrow on potentially playing this week: “I'm not ever going to go to somebody and say, 'Yeah, I'm healthy, but I don't think I should go out there and play.’"

Can you imagine KM uttering anything similar? Sadly, I cannot.

There isn't much that Kyler the football player does that is similar to Burrow the football player.

that is certainly true

baked into any trade assumption from me is Mike paying something like $25mm of Kylers guarantee

but even then i think you are correct
