He might have held the ball for 3 seconds before the defender bashed his arms AND also if he takes 3 steps specifically based on the prior statement unless the ground is involved and then the ball cannot move and also two feet in bounds. Behold the NFL catch

It's better than the previous situation, where receivers would lose control of the ball before making a "football move", and it was ruled a fumble, even though the receiver obviously never "completed the catch". That happened WAY too often and made WAY too much of an impact on games.

Cowboys are pure trash this year (again). Dak is not the Cowboys answer just like KM is not the Cardinals answer. However, I think the Cowboys defense is worse than the Cardinals just like the Cardinals offense is worse than the Cowboys. It will be interesting to see the line on next week's game. Might even be a close one.

Might be close?? EVERY Cardinal game is close, regardless of who we play. It was at least promising to see the Packers toy with the Stealers last night, when they struggled to beat our backups. it still amazes me that there are people in the media to refuse to admit that Tomlin is a drag on that franchise.

Speaking of rules that drive me nuts. Did people see the fumble play in the Giants loss to Philly? I can't remember the exact timing but Philly was in the tush push play and as they were pushing forward the ball comes loose from Hurts and the Giants recover the ball. They looked at it and then the Giants challenged it and the refs eventually ruled that his forward progress was stopped so no fumble can be charged the play is dead. Daboll actually challenged if they got the first down or not because he was hoping they would see the fumble and rule the ball came out before the first down.

I suspect that call will lead to them making that play against the rules because Daboll went nuts and he was 100% right. They NEVER call forward progress, on that play the literal value of the play is them pushing Hurts forward to get the yards needed. So every time they run that they get extra yardage because they do NOT call forward progress. But the one time he fumbles, they save him with forward progress. Thibodeaux literally rips the ball out of his hands it's clearly a fumble. What made it really bad is earlier in the game Philly did it and it was obvious they moved early, at least 2 linemen moved before the snap but they didn't call it. Daboll was all over the refs on that one so when the fumble happened later he was livid

Philadelphia has gotten a lot of mileage out of a olay that goes against the spirit of the existing rules.

It was close but he did not have control when the first foot came down so to me it was not a TD

it looked like the ball was hitting his hands just as his first foot came off the ground. so, they are basically saying that possession was had on contact with the hands, which doesn't make sense. I think it's one of those things where they don't want to overturn calls anymore. if it wasn't called a catch it would have not been given.

Yeah it never made sense to me. It's hard to officiate, they miss false starts and offsides on it regularly. It's dangerous, people get hurt because of the scrum. And it's just plain boring. It really surprised me more of the NFL teams didn't vote against it the last time they had a vote. I don't fault the Eagles it's allowed and they have a perfect setup for it, but I just hate it.

Hopefully the outrage over this one call will lead to the NFL deciding to get rid of it next year
