Mendoza looked ordinary on the road against a mediocre Iowa team, 13-23,223
2TDs 1 Int
You know as well as I do it's about the body of work not a single game.

But if Murray put up that mediocre stat line every week we would mostly be happy with his contribution.

He has a long ways to go as a passer to stand a chance at the next level
As much as we love Sam as ASU fans I don't know anybody who is saying he is ready for the NFL. If anything, his stock is lower now than before the season started.

I haven't seen Allar play this year and I liked Mendoza at Cal. But it seems like everyone else has been kinda of disappointing. Manning, Sellers, Nussmeier... Not that good so far.

I dunno...there are some bigger names that may be in the draft...The kid from LSU, the guy at ASU, Allar, Manning...lots of flavors for needy teams to choose from and if teams get infatuated with a guy or caught up in a name..it could allow a guy like Mendoza to drop a bit in the draft... even with a difference in stats many GM's would be more comfortable picking the 6'5 Allar who plays at Penn state over the 6'5 Mendoza who plays for Indiana just due to the perceived quality of the institution and competition.... then, somebody will give a high pick for Arch just because he is a Manning...
I can see a situation in which Mendoza is the best QB in the class yet still on the board at pick 10 or 12....I mean, Josh Allen was 7...Lamar was 32?
A cluttered QB class can benefit a team like us that isnt in the position to have our choice from all the QB's but has to pick from "whats left"....
Yeah, reading that post is depressing. I am not sure ANY of them could've gotten drafted ahead of Nix in the 2024 draft and he was, what, the 5 or 6th QB taken in the first round?

Where i guy gets drafted doesn't really set his career trajectory though...within reason of course..
I mean, we passed on Lamar to trade up for Rosen...
Mayfield was 1, Darnold 3,...Josh Allen was 7.... but most teams would take Allen or Jackson ahead of Mayfield or Darnold.
There is some good solid quarterbacks in this upcoming draft...the only ones you really gotta worry about are the ones that get drafted by teams like the Jets...they been ruining QB draft picks since Namath retired.

Agreed. He had a great game against Illinois. Other 2 wins are against Little Sisters of the Poor. I know he didn’t do the schedule. Let’s see how he does on the road against top B10 teams. They have a soft schedule but do play Penn St b

Yeah..but it's early...the end of season push and bowl season will bring the cream to the top.

I strongly disagree, per all of my comments in the K1 thread.

And I think if you put that rookie with this roster and he would get his ass kicked.

We don’t need change for the sake of change (imo).

People think supporting keeping K1 means you’re a delusional fanboy but that’s not the case. Kyler is definitely flawed, but he can also be supremely talented in the same breathe.

There are so many factors beyond the QB that determines the success of a team. Obviously coaching plays a huge role, the defense, culture, stability of an organization, etc.

Take Lamar out of Baltimore and drop him on say the Jets. I wonder what his success would have been?

Heck, I’ll still go on record saying that K1 is better than Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold, Daniel Jones, etc…All three of those guys are proof that culture/coaching and a competent organization is the difference between you being a bum/bust and a pro bowler!

And for the record, I’m not drinking the Koolaid. I can totally admit K1 isn’t a too ten QB right now in this league. But for those wishing he’d go away or pinning all our issues on him, I just can’t agree with that. Go put K1 on the Packers, or Steelers or Ravens and watch how ridiculously “good” he would become.

That is the most underwhelming QB class I can remember since 2013. Dear lord we’re screwed

Not sure if he declares liking what I see from Dante Moore
He's definitely better than Allar, who's considered a 1st rd Qb
Want nothing to do with Dante Moore. Slight frame, 1 year starter, not overly athletic for his frame, etc.

He's a guy who really needs to stay another year. He wont and he'll have struggles n the pros because of it. However, there are layers to his game he needs to add and that only comes with experience.

Didn't say I liked him, just said he's better than Allar. None of the '26 QB's are looking overly promising.

Thats a good list. I am also a fan of Drew Allar...havent seen him play yet this year but I am hoping he has shown some maturity in his game. he still needed to take a couple steps to solidify his status last year.
Drew Allar ain't it, I hate to say. At best, Franklin ruined him; at worst, he never had it. What an absolute dumpster fire of a major college QB. I guess I'd take a 3rd or later flyer on him to see if he could be developed, but that's it.

I think Allar is salvageable, but he needs to go to the right team with the right coaching staff that can rinse the stink of James Franklin off of him and reverse the regression caused by Franklin. Allar has the physical attributes and the arm strength and at times you can see a QB who can work through his progressions. He can't go to a team that needs to start him right away.

By the way, I loathe Franklin.

It was supposed to be pretty good. But it seems like all of the touted guys are falling over themselves to prove they aren’t worth a top pick.
