Many people were wondering why they didn’t buttress the offense in the offseason. We knew they were relying on a very young CB group.

Predictable things happening as predicted isn’t hindsight. This team didn’t make an aggressive playoff push; they showed they expected organic growth to become a low-double-digit win team.

3 cbs going down before the conclusion of game 2 with 2 of them going down in game 2 is hindsight as all hell - we loaded up on safeties tho

Just rewatching the highlights of the week 18 game from last year and I forgot how close it was for most of the game.

20-17 at the half and 26-24 at the start of Q4. Against Josh Dobbs, no Kittle, no Aiyuk, no CMC, no Deebo.

Then Q4 went nuts.

Cards need to win this game. If they play up to their potential, they will win. They haven't done that so far.

I don't know, I can see this go either way.
I think it is really the defense that will win or lose this game. The pass rush had better be fierce because either Jones or Purdy can pick us apart with the inexperience at CB. The offense could lose the game with turnovers. But if we take care of the ball we will definitely have a chance to win if the defense front has it's best game so far.

BS… a lot of people were saying the CH room was paper thin depending on unproven 2nd year melton an oft injured rookie Johnson and a good slot corner.
really? because all i heard was wr and o-line... but a lot of people huh? only thing i heard a lot of people saying about our secondary was johnson might be the steal of the draft - cards drafted him in the 2nd and burke in the 5th - both are playing in year 1 right away - and a lot of people are confident in melton as well

Chuck is a known asshat. Don’t know why I even engaged.
dumb people can still make good points

his point stands

last year 20% more aggressiveness with the roster could have put them into the playoffs without jeopardizing the future

we will see this year-- but the comment on CBs is more true right now than it was 3 months ago. He knows that two of his three young CBs are hurt, and, Elijah Jones DIDNT take a step forward in camp.

Smart teams are proactive not reactive.
Several of us on here were calling for them to sign a vet when Bunting and Thomas went down. We could see the writing on the wall at that point.
Once again, you can't lose starting caliber guys and not get similar replacements. The "next man up" mentality usually only applies to the next guy, not the 4th, 5th, 6th or 7th guy. At that point, you need to sign a veteran replacement.
