Indeed. But some posters seem to be confusing that with good times are just up the road.

Only up from here after KD is my view.

I think you’re confusing it as some posters are thinking championship. No one is thinking that.

Brain Gregory was not able to discuss the Kevin Durant and Mark Williams trades, citing league rules.

I'm not confusing that all. I'm saying that anyone who thinks that anything we did tonight makes a bit of difference to how much the franchise is still up crap creek for the next (at minimum) three years, is kidding themselves.

It's highly doubtful Maluach is going to have any impact for at least a couple years, and I wouldn't even count on Williams being with the team beyond this year, even assuming he manages to play the majority of games this season.

We all, meaning NBA fans, need to do a write in campaign to commissioner Silver about having the league year start sooner, or moving the draft to after the new league year start. Guys wearing the wrong ball caps, GMs not able to talk on trades, etc., until it's approved after the new league year starts as it currently stands is assinine! It diminishes the fan experience. They need to get this calendar quirk worked out.

Um, that has always been the case. Tonight doesn't change that other than we have a position we don't have to concentrate on anymore.
I'm not confident in saying that. It's a position we now have potential upside. We were supposed to be not concentrating on Center with Richardson, Plumlee, and Oso onboard, yet here we are. I am excited about the possibilities of Williams and Maluach. I have to see how they play for us before I feel confident we solved that position.

Well we aren't going to sign another 3 centers to see if you are correct. This isn't about "solving" the position. It's about putting us in a position to have a potential solve. And we have done that with the center position.

PF and PG become our main focus now.

What gives me some hope is that Edey was 9 last year. Maluach at 10 but with a higher ceiling and a better floor. Edey did have impact in his first season.

the new picks and moves pretty much have removed Bol Bol from the equation.

oh, i think the road to success is still REALLY long for this team, and it's filled with a bunch of potential pot-holes, but at least the car feels like it's finally on the road and not wandering in the wilderness anymore, running into trees.

and while we might have a guy who basically just got his license behind the wheel, at least he looks like he's not the drunk we had behind the wheel before him so far.

A report the Suns have received trade inquires about Nick Richards.

His non-guaranteed $5 million expiring contract has to be attractive.

If I had my rathers, I'd like to keep him. The same with Cody Martin and Collin Gillespie.

Depends on the return. Richards is ok, but nothing that can't be replaced in other ways.

Getting a good return is important because Richards is capable of starting at center.

The others are rookies, have injury concerns or question marks.

Phoenix has a log jam at C/PF with Nick Richards, Mark Williams, Khaman Maluach, Rasheer Fleming and Oso Ighodaro.

Yep we cannot just solely rely on the youth movement, veterans and seasoned players are still needed.

I believe his contract would have to be guaranteed for him to be traded. So the options are to cut him and save on his unguaranteed salary or guarantee his salary and trade him.

I think a team trading for Nick Richards would want his contract guaranteed, as it must be done by 6/29/25.

Don't think there would be a waiting period, but it's a gray area for me. I'd rather keep him than let him walk for nothing.

Return for Richards would have to be a point guard unless they have Allen or O'Neale trades lined up in which they save enough money to get under the second apron or get a really good PG in return. Keeping Richards and Martin means there is no getting under the second apron unless thy send Allen and/or O'Neale out for nothing (or close to it) back.

And Maluach moves better than Edey.

Do what we can to get under the 2nd apron, then package whatever is left for a PG.

Beal
Allen
O'Neale

No, draft pick compensation and cap relief are perfectly acceptable as well.

We don't really need a PG, I would have thought you guys would have learned that after last year, but apparently your obsession continues.

Book and Green will get the majority of guard minutes, gillespie will handle most of the backup minutes. We can use one more PG, but as a 3rd stringer is all that is required.
