This was bad timing all the way around. First in getting a billionaire owner when the league was changing (2nd apron), when in the past having an owner with Ishbia's resources would likely make you a perennial playoff team. Then the fact it in turn impacts what deals teams are wiling to make now which might have been different had the new rules never came to be.
I have watched the Suns back to their inception. We always have the worst timing on things. Suns curse.

At the very worst, you needed to get at least one of the Rockets promising young players or some of our very valuable picks back.
This is where my disappointment lies. I can’t believe they didn’t get one. They have:

Sengun (he was never going anywhere)
Thompson (same)
Jabari
Eason
Sheppard
Green

And they were only able to get the least valuable guy.

That's where the Suns hiring an inexperienced NBA GM may have cost them big time.

Again, it doesn’t matter, we don’t have any picks, what little draft assets we do have are leveraged so terribly that they are going to end up at the end of the round no matter what anyway.

Also, Green is going to be untradable, he does not help our flexibility at all.
So this isn’t true. I get that some of you love to play the hyperbole card here, but there are some posters that likely believe you know what you’re talking about when you say this stuff. The swaps WILL end up with us having worse picks, but they won’t be literally end of the round unless we have swaps with a team that wins the championship - unlikely. Conditioned in us getting under the threshold.

I know fans wanted more, I wanted more, but there is a reason the Rockets extended Green. He is only 23. There is still untapped potential.

Regardless, the Suns gained financial flexibility, NBA players and draft picks.

Personally, I don't know if I could have taken any more isolation basketball.
Then you’ll hate green.

So the Suns current roster is 5 small forwards, 5 shooting guards, 1 point guard, 1 power forward, and 1 center... and the last three are only marginally playable.

And you just know they are taking Richardson with that 10 pick.

We now got a lot smaller. Potentially starting 4 guys 6'6" or less.

PHNX says the deal cannot be finalized until almost Summer League, so third teams, etc., could be added to the deal.

Why am I the only person pleased to have Dillon Brooks? If he's a strong defender I want him; and if he's a thug I want him playing for the Suns, not an opponent.

I'm also learning that he's said to be an intense, vocal and emotional leader. Exactly what Booker isn't.

I’d be surprised, players like him don’t often change their feathers. He is a player who shoots a lot and isn’t good at shooting, he’s a bad passer he doesn’t rebound and he doesn’t play defense.

I’ve posted a lot about this certain breed of player that the NBA can’t seem to come to terms with as being terrible. High volume shooters who don’t shoot well and do nothing else, over and over again their splits are horrendous. Green defines that player.
Considering books’ net ratings in his first four seasons were worse than greens, there’s hope. He’s also much more athletic than Booker.

Bookers net rating:

SeasonNet Rating (NetRTG)
2015-16-1.2
2016-17-2.2
2017-18-8.7
2018-19-9.1

Legler keeps beating the drum the Suns won't be bad for five years. He keeps saying the Suns can essentially change their situation relatively fast.

He's an upgrade over Royce Oneal who we started many games this last season. Right now, Brooks is a starter for us.

The caveat is Brooks is paid more than Royce. We could flip him or start him. I would not be surprised to see either.

The Suns' experience, and the Nets', gives no reason to believe Durant is any good-luck charm. I do not predict he will win the Rockets a championship.
The rockets have a lot of additional talent surrounding kd that neither the nets nor the suns had when they acquired him. Will be interesting to see how the rockets do now…

I was looking for that stat when Green's numbers were posted.

I'm definitely in the minority I guess. I'm definitely pleased. The brand of basketball we've been watching since end of last year has been horrible. We gambled and lost. I would love to keep Green. Lots of teams would love to have him.
