If Beal leaves the Suns, it's likely to be by a buyout. This may be all about jockeying for position.
yup they could be playing a game of chicken right now - beal letting ish know he's here for the long haul unless he gets hella paid

Read somewhere that a buyout isnt possible.

I read a buyout was possible awhile back if Beal took less money. As I recall, the information was from a reputable source. There are percentages involved with the new CBA. If I find the article, I will post it.

However, Beal would likely want to make up the money with a two year MLE from another team.

I think Beal is gone from what I've read. Hopefully the Suns already have a plan in place without giving anything up other than money.

I agree I don't want to spend assets on this. I'd rather if we can't get rid of him just keep him playing off the bench, but build around him. If need be, just let him play out this year, maybe half of next season then waive the rest. At this point, he's getting cheaper by the day if we stay patient. Heck, if we need some help down in the G League, maybe he can pitch in? IDK the rules on that.

You had me until the G-League thing in your last sentence. Don't make Bradley mad.

Sending Beal to the G-League would be unprecedented and absolutely kill the Suns as a destination with future players. Either pay him not to play or let him come off the bench. To make him run with the Frosh squad would probably get the players union involved.

It used to be that you could send players to the G League if they had no more than 3 years NBA experience, don't know if that's changed though.

Minnesota falling for the same trap that Ishbia and JJ did just 3 years later is hilarious. I wish Minny had draft capital we could get from them. I'd love McDaniels in a deal but who knows what we'll we end up with.

I'm going with the old saying, "don't count your chickens before they hatch", although I hope there is a good trade to be made using Kevin Durant.

Thought it was the stretch provision that wasn’t possible.

That's correct. A team can't have more than 15% of the cap tied up in stretched money.

Gerald Bourguet did a video where he explained it.

Gerald Bourguet said yesterday that the Suns CAN NOT waive and stretch Bradley Beal next year because the dead salary can't be more than 15% of the cap salary.

That 15% for next year will be around $23M.

Waiving and stretching Beal: $22M BUT we have already dead money on Nassir Little ($3.1M) and E.J. Liddell ($0.7M). That would make it $25.8M in dead salary, so it's not allowed by the rules.

Thanks. At least in baseball, if a guy is rehabbing, he can go to triple A and get some reps in.

It is possible with a buy out and then stretch because that get's us below the 15% cap. He would have to agree to a buy out first.

This is what I'm wondering. Can Beal takes less money in a buyout to avoid the cap rule, looking to sign a new MLE contract elsewhere?

If so, it would be a buyout and stretch.

Yes. Many videos have shown how the math works. All he has to do is take less money for just the MLE amount for the buyout, and sign somewhere for the MLE, and he loses no money, but moves on from the Suns. Even with injuries during the season, a Bradley Beal at the MLE for a team is much more attractive. He would have lots of choices of where to go at the MLE.

I believe I have a link to one of those videos or articles on another computer.

If you find one, please provide it. I've been looking, but I couldn't find the right one.
