League fines go to charity so the league should cover the cost to X charity and return the cash to those fined. I bet the league losing revenue directly would cause officiating to be taken more seriously.

Not sure they have the assets to be active in the trade market unless they move to start tanking, which they are unlikely to be willing to do while Curry is still playing at this level.

The Warriors have expiring contracts to make a trade attractive.

I agree that the officiating needs to be addressed but I don't agree "conduct" fines should be rescinded. It doesn't matter if the call was blown or not. Bad call or not you should be able to conduct yourself as a professional.

I could better understand if referees were disciplined for making bad calls and it made public.

I'd be very against this idea, can't see anything but problems coming from it. Bad behavior is bad behavior, dismissing it because calls were blown won't make things better. That's not to say that I wouldn't review those infractions and downgrade SOME of them but no way would I clean sweep it. Chasing a ref, threatening them and such should never be tolerated.

Obviously it's a refs job to call the game as best they can but "best" doesn't mean perfect because even close to perfect is well out of their reach. They have a lot of things to watch and it's become even more difficult because they have a lot of people in the game and on the sidelines actively working to keep them from making the right calls. I believe things will continue to get worse until they agressively address the "acting" from players (and coaches).

There's a line. Being obscene brings about penalties on it's own. When a coach or player even says "The FT disparity didn't make sense. They got calls, we didn't" they get fined. That's ridiculous, IMO.

Since I started betting on games more, bad calls piss me off a lot more. The league is accomplice since they have all the book makers as advertisers also. They need to have the refs striving for perfection. They shouldn't excuse it as a lofty goal that's out of reach. They should expand officiating crews if need be. I think there should be a digital team following games as well as the ones on the floor. That would certainly speed up replay/review calls since the plays are already being reviewed. They should also be able to get in touch with the crew chief regarding some non-calls or bad calls. There's a lot of ways it can be improved.

I don't think it all falls on the players acting. That is an issue that needs addressed and maybe it's what needs to be discussed as a quid pro quo transaction of sorts. Players quit acting so much on the floor in return for looser fining rules. Simple and stated criticism no longer draws fines. The line now for fine or no fine is even mentioning a blown call draws a fine, regardless of how eloquent one addresses it. Not even allowing coaches to address it goes a step way too far, IMO. If you don't want all players harping on over something, understandable, but coaches should have more leeway to address certain things.

This. I think maybe they need to rethink how they hold the Refs accountable. I think they have tried adding the instant replay etc. It's overturned a ton of calls. Also, each ref is giving a report card. You don't need to report details but maybe publish the grades and penalties so fans know. The conduct thing is simply isn't an excuse because of a bad call. If any of us acted like that on our jobs we would be toast.

While at home you can clearly see, the announcers see it and report it, etc. So then they go to the monitors for five minutes to try and get the call right. Why can't they have a referee at the court side table, literally watching the game and replays, be available to tell the working refs what the call is when they go over and get the call. This would take literally less than 15 seconds in most situations. The game isn't bogged down, and it is a much better experience for the fans. For god's sake, why does it take so long for the refs to get the call from Secaucus???

There should be 5 officials per game not 3, as it is now. 1 like you said on a monitor. They could even keep that at the NBA center to keep travel costs down. I don't think 1 extra person will add much though. That's the easiest to add because of that flexibility.

Then another mid court. Sort of box players in. One official on each side. They should all be mic'd up as well and able to communicate without needing to huddle.

Adding at least a digital ref would be the easiest though. Whenever there's a 50/50 call, go to them. Officiating needs an overhaul.

I think that they keep doing this for years, but the market is dry or Ainge sets the price too high, or probably both.

Surprised Kerr wasn't fined. At the end of the Denver game he was irate when Braun dove on a loose ball, rolled over and slid several feet, and then appeared to call timeout. Denver had no timeouts, and were up 4 so in theory T, FT and then a made 3 is a tie game. The refs didn't call the timeout let alone the T, didn't call the travel, and Denver won. The next day the NBA said he didn't clearly make the TO signal he started to but didn't complete it clearly so correct call. I somewhat agree he didn't make the classic T with his hands but that's because he had the ball cupped in one hand. The Warriors wound up in a jump ball but down 4 with a few seconds left it didn't matter. Kerr said post game everyone saw him roll over and then call timeout but the 3 guys paid to see it.

After the NBA defended the refs Kerr made a snide comment about how they never addressed the obvious walk. I would assume because it had no impact on the outcome, down 4 if they call the walk they're still going to lose.

They won tonight without Steph, tremendous game from Kuminga 33 and really nice defense, I do think it's looking more and more like the start from Hield was a mirage, he's fallen off a cliff. Podz is picking it up but while everyone says they need a big, and they do, I really think their biggest need is another guard so when Draymond is not on the floor they can run the offense without having to have Steph on the ball so much. If teams double him off the ball, and they can't score 4 on 3 then they suck anyways.

I didn't think they were as good as 12-3 start made it seem, and I don't think they're as bad as the 5 game losing streak either, but I do think unless Podz makes a big jump they're going to have to get a guard who can create. Tonight they using Kuminga quite a bit as a point forward with Steph out and it worked. Also a big key tonight was GP2, his on ball defense in the 4th quarter was huge, if he were just a better ballhandler but he's like an undersized 4 on offense.

It takes one player to turn a team around. See San Antonio for a prime example of a team that experienced huge turnarounds twice and is on the cusp of a third. Add Cooper Flagg to the Wizards or Nets and their fortunes start changing for the better. The Suns are a borderline play in now with no easy path to improve over the next 5 years. Good chance we swap at least one of those picks.
