As you said, college stuff really makes no difference. Watching the kid play, nothing screamed first round QB. Nothing screamed anything more than 3rd-round or lower taking a flyer on a QB pick. He was also one of those late risers because the NFL loves to outthink itself. He's a bust in waiting. If he wasn't a white Michigan QB he never even would have been a late riser.

Wide receiver Hakeem Butler has been named the UFL’s first offensive player of the year.

Butler was an All-XFL selection in 2023 and he won the top offensive award for his play in the first season since that league merged with the USFL.

Butler had 45 catches for a league-high 652 receiving yards and five touchdowns for the St. Louis Battlehawks this season. He will have a chance to add to those titles in a conference title game against San Antonio this weekend.

You didn't see a high level of college production. Why didn't he produce...because he didn't have to.

Right great team around him. We don't know how great HE IS though.

He lost one game in two seasons. Went 28 for 44 63% in two games vs Ohio St, 411 yards passing, 4 TDs, 0 ints, ran for 44 yards and 1 TD. Won both of those games vs Ohio St. 17-27 vs Alabama in a playoff game, 221 yards passing, 3 TDs, 0 ints. Won that game. I really don't care that he didn't pad his stats vs Nebraska.

You can spin it how ever you want to, but the real reason McCarthy was a top 20 pick is because there are 32 good QBs in the NFL. Hell, there probably isn't really 15 QBs that are real game changers.

Teams will overdraft QBs. Richardson was proof positive of that. He wasn't just not very good at Florida, Richardson actively sucked at Florida.

Teams will overdraft athleticism, while others like Les Snead value good football players. The Rams are like the second worst team in regards to RAS as a team.

You can't have it both ways. You've already asserted that college doesn't matter to defend him, so you don't get to use stats against good college teams to defend the pick. Also, who cares? Tons of great college QBs did similar and went on to be never was types of QBs in the NFL. Teams wisely steered clear of Heisman winners in the past--the Oklahoma QB I cannot for the life of me remember the name of comes to mind. Yeah, sure, I'll just trust NFL GMs when it comes to QBs; they've never reached massively for busts because they're desperate for a QB before lol

The kickoff has been resurrected, and rejuvenated. It’s gone from a perfunctory play to a moment that will cause palpitations.

There will be uncertainty. There could be chaos. It could be a lot of fun to watch.

For the teams that benefit from it, that is. For the teams that don’t, it will be a nightmare. Games could be decided by fourth-quarter kick-return touchdowns. Less obviously, teams that parlay the new procedures into better field position will likely score more points. Teams that can’t make the tackles will see drives starting at or close to midfield.

Once teams get a taste of being on the wrong side of this brave new world of kick returns, they might choose the break-glass option. Kick the ball out of the end zone, and concede the 30 yard line to start the drive.

Here’s my prediction. By the trade deadline, at least half of the league will decide to scrap the effort to cover kicks and just surrender the 30. Teams more likely to do that will be teams with good-to-great defenses. Also, former defensive coordinators will likely be more conservative when it comes to not pinning their careers on what could become special-teams Russian Roulette.

I must have missed where Alex Rollins is significantly different in breaking down film than any other educated fan. I think his content is well put together, but I don't consider him very different than the PHX guys who are gaining legitimacy as they have been able to pull in some fairly decent media folks to their content. JJMc is a situation where you can argue based on your bias. I understand you can find clips on JJMc where he makes mistakes. He went #10. I can also find clips if where Caleb Williams made mistakes...he went #1. When it comes to college football, I put more weight on performances vs teams with NFL level players, and less on teams that don't. JJMc was great vs top teams.

And to be fair, this is where I was critical on Kyler. He was not very good vs Alabama which was the one program where he didn't have a talent advantage.

I can have it both ways. I can say a performance vs Alabama is more relative to a NFL projection than a game vs Tulsa. That is a reasonable argument.

I agree that sometimes drafting flash over substance can lead you down a bad path. I also feel you can argue the opposite ala Bryce young.

Please remember that Les Snead is the guy who bailed on a limited QB who was a #1 overall pick for a QB who was former #1 overall pick but with tremendous physical traits. Goff had gotten to a Super Bowl and Stafford had the nickname Stat Paddford as a guy who never won anything before that trade.

It may not have been his best game, but Kyler did account for 420 yards and 3 touchdowns. The OU defense was atrocious, as I’m not sure if Bama ever punted.

I do agree the stat line looked good at the end. I don't believe he had a good game. That said, I have had this debate on this board multiple times and don't want to do so again (just stating this in general not specifically because I think you want to).

Rollins understands coverages and the concepts NFL teams are using to attack specific concepts. I think you're just trying to undermine his insight by attacking his very standing to critique players, instead of... you know, criticizing his actual arguments that he makes on the video.

I respect your opinion pretty strongly, and I reserve the right to be wrong about JJMc because I do think he has a shot to be good, but it's a massive stretch to just point out a few examples of him playing well instead of focusing on the overall arch of his career which would be considered below average for most first round (or even 2nd round) QBs.

I'd argue that most games JJMc had a big talent advantage over most teams he faced. He barely beat a historically (during the Saban era) bad Alabama team, almost any other year Alabama likely steamrolls the 2023 Michigan team.
