It's a torn meniscus in his right knee for Cam Johnson

The Suns really didn't say whether it was going to be arthroscopic surgery or something more.

If it's a repair, I suspect Cam Johnson could be out for months.

I found this under replies to a tweet by Marc Stein.

The Suns needed to make a move to shore up this bench. Now we REALLY need a move because it's now about the starting lineup.

I read that he had a torn meniscus in college. Does anybody know if it was the other knee or the same knee?

I always wondered where my mandibula was.
Best case 6 weeks worst case see Dario 3 or 4 months.
If they can scope it will be less time.

I haven't found out which knee Cam Johnson injured in college but here is a brief synopsis of his injuries in college.

By May 19, 2019 Brendan O'Sullivan NBA Draft, Player Scouting Reports

Quite possibly the most concerning aspect of Johnson’s game is his injury-riddled past. In 2014-2015, he was issued a medical redshirt after suffering a shoulder injury eight games into the season. It wasn’t until 2017-2018 when Johnson was out for another month stretch. He missed 11 games due to a torn meniscus at the start of the season. He concluded that season, and then underwent hip surgery prior to his final season of eligibility.

Wow that last line of his weaknesses "Doesn't produce many blacks and steals"

Cam Johnson had surgery where meniscus was removed. He could return in 1-2 months.

The above is probably the best case scenario for Cam Johnson returning early to the Suns.

Hopefully this benefits him the most long term as well.

That's too bad. I was hoping it was repairable and patient/doctor had opted for surgical repair. Removing part of the meniscus gets him back to us much sooner but he's likely to have problems in the future as a result.

It's hard to know what is best. I understand repairs don't always take, leading to further surgery.

I was hoping for one of those situations where they knew it was repairable. There is an 85% chance that surgical repair will fix the problem (when it's deemed repairable) and greatly reduces the likelihood of chronic joint problems down the road.

I believe Kelly Oubre had arthroscopic surgery on his knee as did Eric Bledsoe.

If I recall correctly, they used to often call this type of surgery a clean out where they remove loose particles.

In the RealGM article it uses the word "trim."

This appears to be where Cam Johnson injured his knee. There wasn't a lot of contact on the play.

According to Brian Windhorst, the situation with Crowder is unchanged even with the injury to Cam Johnson and there are no plans for his return.

The procedure on Cam Johnson is termed a meniscectomy.
