Cody Ford still a couple of weeks away from returning.

Think that the draft cost for a guy who IS signed past this season would have been higher. And more of a red flag that the team wants to let him go. JMO.

No guarantee but odds are high.

Cardinals gave him his way out of a tough situation. He's close with Kyler and Hollywood. He has a pretty much guaranteed starter spot if Pugh retires.
Seems like a probable scenario. Have Smith start at center next year, and build up the D line with some monsters and a CB1

Im not a fan of drafting defensive linemen in early rounds, very few match expectations
I would with right tackle or pass rusher
Both golden and gardeck are not starting material, the two third rounders is a big? cause didn't see anything from them

I really think Hudson is the one who's going to retire and Pugh will give Center a go, if he can. This training camp was just a practice run for him. Either way, it paves the way for Ford to take over at LG. Pugh goes to Center and if he struggles he either retires or goes to backup swing lineman.

Not really. Odds are high he resigns if he works out. And with Pugh likely done next year you have your future LG.
So it's cool to trade for a guy who isn't playing because there are odds he can re-sign next season? Hmm. How will we know he has "worked out?" How much do you offer a player in such a situation? Seems far from optimal to me.

Any player can get hurt at any time. Hardly a reason not to trade for someone because they might get hurt later.

Yet we can say this has not been a good trade in the least thus far, and it has a long way to go before we can consider it the least bit good. Not Keim's fault he couldn't predict the injury, but here we are heading into week 5 with the guy unavailable.

But, even if he plays good, can we really rely on him to be our future starting LG giving his injury history?
