I'm shocked that a guy who works for the Warriors is staunchly defending the people he works for.

Kerr's reaction makes it pretty obvious that the decision for Durant to play was hardly unanimous and it is almost impossible to believe the injury is unrelated to the "calf strain". I'm not condemning the Warriors for it, but this dude acting like they're above scrutiny is a joke.

Kevin Durant may never be the player he was after rupturing his Achilles and it was "a disaster" to allow him to play just 32 days after suffering a calf injury, according to a specialist.

The 30-year-old, a 10-time All-Star who was named Finals MVP in both of the Warriors' championship victories in 2017 and 2018, was making his comeback from a calf problem he sustained against the Rockets last month, and former MVP Charles Barkley was among those to criticize the Warriors for rushing Durant back.

Doctor Babak Baravarian, a foot and ankle specialist based in California who serves as a consultant to the ATP Tour, admitted he was surprised to see Durant on the court again so soon after his initial injury.

"What happens is he has an inflammatory process from his initial injury and he also doesn't have a good firing calf muscle because of the previous injury, so the soleus is maybe hyperextended or overworked and it causes the extra strain that cause the Achilles to tear," he explained to Omnisport.

"Normally when we deal with a college athlete or an elite athlete this is a 90-day recovery (from the initial injury).

"I don't know the level of damage he had from his initial injury but you're not talking about getting back to normal walking or shooting, you're talking about explosive-type exercise. That to me is a 90-day recovery ⁠— 30 days is still during a major inflammatory process, and 30 days is still during the very early healing process. That calf muscle healing, tendon healing is minimum about 60 days.

I’m always skeptical of a doctor making a judgment call when they haven’t actually treated the patient and thus are working on only limited information. But that said, I think it’s almost criminal that KD was green lit to play.

Well nothing new from that article, achilles injuries are more of a death sentence than microfractures or ACL injuries at this point in medicine.

FWIW there is a rumor that the doctors actually cleared KD for game 2 but the Warriors held him out as a precaution until it got to game 5. If that were true then they'd be in hot water for effectively deciding we're down 3-1 so now we're willing to take the risk we weren't when it was 1-0.

An aside, have i mentioned before I think Sonya Curry is just stunningly attractive? People say Dell Curry hit the lottery having Steph as a son I think he hit the marriage lottery too.

He has been better the problem is the giveaways. Like the 6th, yes it was a iffy call, Lowry jumped right into him should have been a no call, but it was NOT worth getting T number 6. He should have just walked away.

Tonight I bet the Warriors are really conscious of it, go and get Draymond if anything happens, keep him from getting suspended. Hopefully nobody on Toronto pulls a LeBron and basically stands on his nuts to make him get a T.

I always thought the only way they were going to chance it was if they were down by that margin, if he played at all. There is a risk/reward to all of their processes and I assume they were only going to roll the dice at the most critical moments.

The players will decide the series, but the karma could come into play with Kawhi’s decision. I don’t know if he cares because we don’t know much about him, but it can’t help, especially since he can relate to KD’s position. And with the uncertainty about KD’s recovery, doesn’t it make Kawhi even more desirable as a free agent? Especially since AD’s willingness to re-sign affects his trade possibilities.

I wouldn’t be shocked if there’s some ugliness in Toronto after the series. It’s a great city, but there is definitely pent-up frustration championship-wise, and a chip on the shoulder for its share of yahoos.

As a Suns fan I’d obviously rather Kawhi stay in the east, with KD and AD joining him.
