Player Comparison:
Jonathan Vilma. White reminds me of Vilma in his prime years with the Jets and Saints. Vilma was an excellent run defender and tackler while also being a thick linebacker who made plays in pass defense. Vilma (6-1, 230) and White are almost identical in size. Vilma went in the top 20 of the 2004 NFL Draft, and White could go top 20 in the 2019 NFL Draft.
NFL Matches: Oakland, Detroit, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Pittsburgh
Check back in the months to come as this scouting report will be updated with measurements, info from team sources, and more NFL matches based off what happens in free agency.
The Raiders and Lions are picking in the top 10, which could be too high for White as teams generally shy away from taking non-pass-rushing linebackers that high. However, White provide be an immediate upgrade to both teams because their linebackers really struggled in 2018. White would be a good scheme fit for either Oakland or Detroit.
The Bengals need linebacker help. It was a real weakness for them in 2018, and one has to wonder if injuries will cut short the career of Vontaze Burfict. White would make a lot of sense to Cincinnati in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
Staying in the AFC North, Cleveland is another team who needs linebacker upgrades. Joe Schobert is a nice player, but the Browns need better linebackers around him. Pittsburgh also has to improve its inside linebackers, and White would be a steal for the Steelers at pick No. 20.
