At the sake of being obvious, hard to ignore Tommy Wiseau in The Room. Any success this guy has is due to the fact that he is terrible at just about anything. Hey, whatever works.

Honorable Mentions:
John Travolta - Battlefield Earth
Nicolas Cage - The Wicker Man
Adam Sandler - Billy Madison
Pauly Shore - Bio-Dome
Keanu Reeves - Much Ado About Nothing/Bram Stoker's Dracula
Jake Lloyd - Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace

Nic Cage - Peggy Sue Got Married.
William Hurt - Lost in Space.
Ryan Gosling - Gangster Squad.
Quentin Tarantino - Desperado.
Taylor Lautner - Abduction.

I was going to add Louis Gossett Jr's role in The Principal but I'm inclined to blame that absurd Irish accent on direction.

Ahh, Tarantino. I actually would have picked his great starring role in Destiny Turns on the Radio as one of the worst performances I've ever seen.

Are we going to do least favorite characters in a movie or just the actor who played them?
This is all about performance, so it would be specific to the actor playing a role in the movie, not simply a bad role.

lots of guys have had bad performances.

one that sticks out to me...was actually a great performance of a nasty character...done so well I hated the actor for years and wouldnt watch his movies, lol.

Joaqin Phoenix in Gladiator

but maybe more on topic...

how about when Johnny Depp mailed it in during the Lone Ranger and just did Jack Sparrow with a bird on his head?

maybe more towards my first point... how about everything Bruce Dern ever did?? You always knew that dude was gonna be the bad guy in everything...for years I hated him...you know, since sometimes fans cannot separate the actor from the character... but my favorite part of the Hateful Eight was getting to see Dern do his thing one more time...

hated that guy all my life and loved every minute of it.

It's a weak movie but I liked it anyway mostly because he didn't force an accent. I can't think of anything that will ruin a movie for me quicker than a phony accent.

Oh the movie is fantastic. One of my favorite espionage movies next to Black Sunday.

So does Steven Seagal from Fire Down Below.

Kris Kristofferson and that guy from The Band saved Fire Down Below. Not even R Lee Ermey, Billy Bob Thornton or John McGinley could save On Deadly Ground.

Or Michael Caine for that matter.

Out of respect for some of his earlier stuff, I left Caine out. I know he's often had a reputation as lazy but even by those standards he mailed it in for this movie.

How about a special category for athletes in acting roles?

Best Jim Brown, Dirty Dozen, although for putting together a now abundant amount of quality work, Dwayne Johnson has become a real actor.

Worst Wilt Chamberlain in Conan the Destroyer
